Prompt: You are climbing up a rocky incline when the ledge begins to shake, rolling under your hooves like joints being stretched. You have in fact stepped on several moss-covered golems. They don’t seem to mean you any harm, but you have awakened them from a restful slumber, and your way forward is above their shoulders. What do you say to these stone giants?

Alkestis had reached the end of the chamber in which she had been exploring. The liver chestnut courser had done some thorough exploring of this chamber and was now looking for some other route to explore. Following the walls of the chamber, searching for any sign of a tunnel or path among the vines and further from the regular paths. She did not limit herself to just floor level routes either. Looking up towards the ledges above, brown eyes scanned for potential options above her head. Maybe she could find a way up as long as she actually found something with potential.

Eventually she came across what appeared to be large stone boulders, piled upon each other, leaning against the wall of the cavern. Above these boulders was a ledge and a little further down along the ledge was an opening in the cavern wall. It was the perfect opening to investigate and the boulders created a series of steps.

Hooves clattered against the stone as she leapt up to the first boulder. Then she leapt to the second. Slowly she made her way up towards the ledge. A rumbling began beneath her hooves, causing her to nearly slide on the moss. Realization dawned on her. These weren’t boulders, it was a golem.

GRAAAAAH!

If the sound it made was any indication, it wasn’t necessarily happy to be woken up, but currently was not going after the courser. She knew she only had two choices. Jump down and miss her chance at reaching that opening, or go for the opening and risk not being able to get back down. Deciding to take the risk she quickly leapt up the last few platforms before the golem could lift itself and move away, no longer worrying about her footing.

As she looked back she could see the golem look at her and tilt its head before beginning to move away. Luckily, upon looking down the crack in the wall, it did actually lead somewhere. So maybe it was indeed worth it.
