Archibald looked over his shoulder at Arnold, rolling his eyes. "We did not need to hire some brainless goons. We could handle this place on our own," Archibald spat, putting his nose up at the other heraldic. "They're fodder, Archie. If something attacks us, we push them in the way and while it's eating them, we escape completely unharmed," Arnold responded. Archibald squinted a little at his magical.. clone.. brother... thing. It had been a few moons since Arnold had magically emerged from a cursed mirror in some other dungeon. Archibald was not used to seeing the flawed clone just yet. A voice came from behind the two heraldics. "We can hear you, ya know," the snow white courser said, his caramel colored companion shaking her head.
Archibald ignored the two hired hands and looked forwards again, at the puzzle he'd been staring at for several minutes now. Archibald could only assume it was a puzzle, since the crude map he'd stuck to the wall claimed the tunnel kept going from here. The smooth wall and absence of a conveniently placed lever had Archibald stumped. Arnold had also stared at the wall for a long while, determined to figure out the solution before Archibald. The cremello stallion, one of two guides Archibald had hired for this trip, stepped forward. "Have either of you bothered to look at the floor?" said the cremello.
Years of his cocky attitude had convinced the locals to call him the Alabastard and he wore the name with pride. Alabastard tried to nudge Archibald to the side, which the heraldic was very obviously offended by. Arnold sneered at the cremello, which seemed to have no effect on the pink nosed wonder. Alabastard looked down at some colorful tiles hidden on the floor along the edge of the wall. "Machiatto, you still got that cipher from the upper spire?" the cremello said, not looking up from staring at the symbols on the peculiar tiles. Machiatto replied loudly, her voice tinged with what humans would call an Italian accent, "Read it to me, Al." Alabastard described the symbols on each tile, all while Archibald and Arnold took turns sneering at him and shaking their heads in disdain.
As Alabastard started reading the symbols off, Machiatto retrieved a scroll from her pack and laid it open on a nearby boulder. She stared intently at the scroll as Alabastard read the symbols off. When he was done, Machiatto unceremoniously rolled the scroll up and tucked it into her pack again. "Blue, green, yellow," was all she said as she retrieved some honey oat snacks from her pack and lazily munched on them. "Alright. Blue, green, yellow it is then," Alabastard said as he tapped his front hoof on the correct tiles. The wall began emitting a grinding groan as the smooth surface slid to the side and the tunnel beyond it was revealed. Both heraldics looked entirely furious, of course.

"After an exhausting descent, your party reaches what seems to be a dead end. A seamless wall blocks your path, but walking across the engraved tiles before it produces the sound of an ancient unseen mechanism rumbling to life. Perhaps the artwork on the floor is the key..."

I wonder how long these hired hands will tolerate their snooty employers.
