[DD2] Old Magic

Pascal felt a shudder run down his spine and stopped in his tracks. A ghastly chill emanated from a brazier just around the corner, and he stepped closer to inspect it. Suriyah, his osprey, squawked uncomfortably and took off into the air. She circled around him, keeping an eye on the surrounding area but refusing to come back down. Pascal eyed her nervously and turned back to the brazier.

Mounted on the wall, the brazier sat just like any other brazier, except the fire was an unnatural, pale green color. It cast a sickly light at the area around it, almost obscuring the runes around it that Pascal would just barely make out. Most were worn down with time, faint, but he could make out two- one that represented death, and the other for entrapment.

Nickering thoughtfully, Pascal could only guess what the brazier for was for, and his guesses told him he needed to leave this alone. Calling Suriyah back down, he turned his back to the brazier and trotted away, perhaps a little quicker than his normal cadence.

You find a lit brazier, impossibly old and emanating a rare chill into the furnace. its flames seem to never burn away the coal. Do you take it, or leave it be?
