[DD1] Shards

“Alright. Word of advice, I’m not the bloody wizard, so leave me the fuck alone.” The Courser snapped at the clamoring hoard. He took a step and almost stumbled over another pot. It yelled something he did not hear.  “I don’t have time for this.” Seep snapped. “I’m warning you!”

With a loud crack the yammering pots went silent. As the broken shard of pottery clattered to the floor, magic forever dissipating, Seep withdrew his hoof with a snort and turned to face the hoard. All of the pots that had surrounded him on all sides leapt back a few paces. The Courser smiled and said, “So, would any of you want to start talking too?”

“I say-“ One of the braver pots began. He kicked that one into the wall too. None of the pots replied after that. Their lids silenced, they all hopped back into the rows they stood in before they entered.  Soon, the only sign that someone had been in this room were the two broken pots and the scuffed dust on the dungeon floor.

“That’s what I thought.” Seep scoffed. He quickly trotted out of the room before the Wizard could show up- he had squad mates to find, soldiers more important than a bunch of talking pottery for sure. Why would he bother with them if the lives of his men were in danger. Kindness had no place in the dungeon anymore. Not after what happened on the surface.

Once, his life had been better. Before he had already cut all ties above to find them- staying here would not be the point. Seep was once a simple village guard in a quiet, unremarkable town. His life was routine, guarding the villagers from bandits and wild animals. And then his commander from another barrack, a disgraced noble, decided to send his whole barrack into the dungeon. They were all guilty, they took his friends. No, this Courser was done playing nice with monsters. After he found his herd, that stallion would pay.

As Seep galloped deeper into the dungeon he did fail to notice that, around the corner, something moved in the shade. Bright eyes saw him disappear into the darkness of the dungeon.

Bright eyes, and a very bright, sharp-toothed smile.

'You enter a chamber in search of treasure, but find only a pile of clay pots. You’re about to turn away when they come alive, their lids yammering like mouths. They complain of the Wizard’s negligence, and that c’mon, they’re starving here. Do you give them an offering?'

Seep's short introduction. He's not in a good headspace.
