If it'd been her choice, JM probably would have directed them away from the lava fields and towards cooler, more temperate zones. Moritz, however, seemed to have reason to be here and was moving with purpose. The young courser sighed, once again working to keep up with the seasoned diver. Moritz wasn't at the bottom of her list for a tag along, but they were pretty low. They got on well with her mothers, but Jokerman didn't seem to quite have the patience for their style of dungeoneering. Nothing against them, truly, just not her favorite cut of grass. JM might not have been the greatest conversationalist, but she certainly appreciated a word here and there. Moritz didn't appear to have any words to spare, even in dire situations.

Moritz grunted suddenly, drawing Jokerman's attention to the stretch of cavern ahead of them. They were further from the lava pools than she'd originally thought, the last one's were somewhere behind them. Everything looked normal, even in the darkening space, at first. But Moritz appeared intently fixed on something directly ahead, so she stepped out from behind the other courser. She was a few steps towards the thing holding her companions attention before she realized what it was: a salamander! Also a rare crafting ingredient, but overhunted to the point she hadn't actually seen one in a very long time. Pandora had told her about them, and their uses, at some point during their dives together.

Instinct kicked in and Jokerman quickly scooped the cold salamander off the cool, dark stone beneath their hooves. She spared at glance for Moritz, who's expression was as bland as always, before cantering off in the direction they'd come. Back to the lava. Just being in the same room as the lava flows seemed to perk the little guy up, and JM found herself exhaling a sigh of relief as the salamander began to weakly wriggle between her lips. It gave up after a few good tries, which was probably a good thing. If the cold didn't kill it, a drop sure might.

Jokerman was gentle as she lowered her head to the warmed earth, near one of the smaller flows. The heat still made her eyes water and she was sure the fur on her face was burning, but she let the little creature plop right out of her mouth. It took a few seconds, but it scuttled off towards the lava on weak, shaky salamander legs.

"Don't do that again," she told the salamander, turning and coming face to face with Moritz. "Ah!"

"Good work."

To say JM was dumbfounded was an understatement.
