[DD1] history on the wind

The deep musk of the near surface level of this dungeon, filled the nostrils of a blue Courser by the name of Odette. Her sapphire eyes glinted in the light of her lantern as she looked around, examining stones she had never seen before. They were old, crumbling, and laden with history. This area was new and yet, so old, older than she could even imagine and she was rising in age herself.

This place was eerily quiet, only the murmur of distant winds tickled the Courser’s ears. Lush flora that normally lined every crack of this dungeon, dwindled as she stepped further forward. Pushing past the occasional spider’s web and fermenting old vine, Odette paid little mind to where she was actually traversing. She focused solely on the deteriorating shale that told a story of time.

As she continued forth, something especially interesting caught Odette’s attention, color. This was not the typical grayish greens and browns that the Courser had grown accustomed to. This was vibrant and well-kept. She stopped, head still lowered, examining the new color. A sudden gust of wind blew over her and through her long, azure mane. Ear and head jerked up immediately. Where was this wind coming from? There didn't seem to be any channels to which it could be from.

Odette was forcibly thrown from her inquisition by another gust of wind. This time threatening to extinguish the light source that sat contained at her hooves. She could’ve sworn this time she heard a voice drift through her ears.

“Welcoooome, traveler… look…learn…listen…”

Her eyes finally caught sight of paintings on the stone that danced in the flickering of her fire. Tears began welling up to the surface and trickled down her cheek. She had never seen anything like this in her years of charting these natural hallways. These marks, they told a story. A story of olde and ancient times. She wished to make sense of it. So much of her and her kin’s history has been forgotten, but she strove to preserve what she could.

With another, less aggressive, surge of air, Odette pulled out some parchment and ink. Furiously, she began jotting down notes on tear stained paper to decipher later.

-This part of the cave looks older than the rest. In rustic dye, you encounter a crude depiction of Coursers unlike any you've ever seen before, their oddly-proportioned bodies running in a herd along the wall. Who could've made this? How does it make you feel?
