[DD1] Apparently More than an Apple A Day
Not soon after fleeing from the cave of lost loot, the two of them came across a room set up almost like the catacombs. Instead of the typical caskets filling the spots, there were rows and rows of pots. It seemed almost surreal, and something felt very off about the room they were in. He wasn’t sure if it was the lack of bodies or the overabundance of pots that were thrown about, but he wanted to leave.
Though he turned to leave, his partner only moved closer. Her eyes glued to the closest pots, and he realized that each pot had different symbols and designs on them. The sizes differentiated as well, and he wondered if they had used urns in place of caskets to save room for those they buried. His thoughts wandering, he decided that they could stay and check out the pots for a bit, but they needed to get moving soon to try and find some more food.
Daravna ended up walking towards the closest pot, and he lowered his head to look at the detail. This one seemed to be covered in flowers and some sort of seeded grass, and the colors were either pastel or very faded. The orange heraldic wondered how long these pots had been down here for and how long the people inside had sat here.
He didn’t really need to wait long for his answer when he heard a voice from further down the corridor, one that did not belong to either of the two coursers standing there.
“.... eard me! You totally heard me don’t act like you didn’t hear me calling you from down there!” All of a sudden a pot appeared in front of the two, lid hopping up and down as this object was talking to them. Was he just imagining things or was the apple he ate earlier poisoned? His attention turned to Desiree and her look of amazement gave him all the affirmation he needed.
That wasn’t the only pot that started talking though, soon thousands of voices could be heard around them, some louder than others. Pot lids slamming down on the rims, some of them shouting at the two about why they didn’t notice they were alive earlier. How was he supposed to know? He tucked his head, trying to shut out the noise of the things around him going nuts. It didn’t help much though and he could feel himself getting more overwhelmed as they fell into one sentence. It wasn't his fault the wizard left them there, it wasn’t HIS fault they were hungry.
“ENOUGH!!”
His voice echoed through the corridor and for the first time in ten minutes everything was quiet. Desiree was looking at him with concern on her face, and the pots seemed to have backed up into the slots as far as they could. He left out a huff and tried to relax the snarl on his face, though his efforts were in vain.
“Daravna… do you want to leave? We can leave, we don’t have to give them anything. Not like we have much to give them anyway.” The stallion shot her a glance and shook his head, he wasn’t ready to leave yet. They wanted to be fed? He'd give them food and they’d like it, or they could continue to sit down here and starve.
There was nothing in his pack that he would consider edible, but they were pots, what would they care? He pulled out the egg he had found earlier and rolled it to the pot that had first started talking.
“Crack it, you eat. Don’t crack it, then starve.” He wasn’t going to help them eat, but at least he could provide the food for them. His eyes moved across the pots that were hiding from him and he gave them a smile, though it wasn’t a friendly one. Motioning to Desiree he proceeded to walk towards the other end of the corridor. There was no reason for them to stay here, why would he be helpful to annoying little things like them.
Desiree looked at him, then at the pots, and at him one more time. “If you’re not going to help them, then I will. You don’t have to be so rude.” He spun around to look at her, a challenge in his expression. She looked at him right back and held her head up.
“Fine, but I’m not waiting.” Daravna turned back the way he came, a flick of his tail to show he wasn’t amused. He’d wait for her in the next room but he needed a break.
