[DD2] Stamp. Crack.
Dev wandered behind the other two - Fetch, and Apparition - inspecting all manner of things or small details on the hot dungeon floor. Anything in the furnace - or indeed the floor above them - that seemed to have a mechanism was thoroughly examined by clever bright eyes, and the information stored away for later.
Devereux did not talk often, which was normal - none of the three, really, were the talking sort unless circumstance demanded such a thing (and sometimes Apparition spoke more freely). It had not, yet, today on this particular venture.
Devereux examined an ember-cloud flower with fascination - carefully prodding at the bud from aways away with a stick, and observing the resulting plume of embers. They were almost testing how sensitive it was - and at this point, Fetch knew telling them to be careful was not particularly helpful.
Predictably, the stick used to trigger the flower was too dry - and caught alight. Devereux dropped it immediately, springing backwards, then swiftly stamping out the bit of flame that had flared.
On the last of their stomps, the ground creaked - and CRACKED open with a horrible sound, smaller crackers spreading out from it. Devereux froze in place.
It cracked further apart, then, red hot magma bubbling up from the earth.
"DEVEREUX, MOVE." Fetch's shout startled them out of their stupor, and Dev sprang that direction, scrambling to get their hooves away from the cracking floor, the hot heat nipping at their heels.
Fetch and Apparition after her moved then - they had been waiting for Dev - swiftly running onwards - and Dev followed. They could hear the earth cracking behind them, feel the rising heat - and the way fear so unnaturally twisted around their spinal column.
"The floor is lava. Quite literally. Magma has begun to pool under your hooves. How do you escape?"
