Remington’s boot lands on the rocky path with a squelch. He looks down, and raises his foot in disgust, black goo sticking to it. He looks more closely, and sees… tentacles???

“Dagnabbit,” he mutters, trying to shake the thing off. As he tries - and fails - to free his boot from the dark creature, a sudden slapping noise comes from behind him, growing louder and louder. Startled, he tries to turn, but his foot is stuck tight, and he falls. The slapping echoes through the dungeon, and he tries to think of what terrifying beast would make a sound like that. It almost sounds like… footsteps? Out of the darkness emerges a wide, squat goose, its eyes trained on the creature stuck to Remington’s boot. The man tries to get out of the way of the bird, but to no avail (re: foot is stuck). Next thing he knows, the goose has peeled the inky creature off of Remington’s boot, and swallowed it whole. The squelch it makes going down the goose’s throat makes Remington want to hurl, but he swallows the urge, stands up, and dusts himself off, regarding the waterfowl in front of him intently.

“Say… I have a hankerin’ that you and I could make a fine team. You lookin’ for a pardner?” He asks, his voice hoarse from lack of use- he has been alone in the dungeons for a long time. The goose honks at him, in an avian laugh. 

“Sure you saved me just now, but I’m sure I can do you a favor in return.” Remington rummages around in his satchel, and pulls out a juicy berry. The bird’s beady eyes brighten, and Remington laughs, tossing him the berry, which is caught in mid air and happily eaten. 

“Why don’t you stick around for a bit, little fella? We can help eachother out in this here dungeon.” And with that, Remington and the goose walk down the tunnel into the darkness. But don’t worry, you’ll see them again.
