There was that thing that Prayer knew very well. It was deep between the fangs of a monster that was about to eat you. It was deep inside the eyes of someone who still loves you despite being already a lost cause. It was in the sweet scent that leads you to your doom. 

And when Prayer looks in that hole it knows it's the same. 

It leads you to your doom. It promises something that your brain cannot overcome, something that you need so desperately. It is sweet like a poison, it is like the most beautiful melody that rain can play. 

Prayer has been on such an edge so many times before. 

And so now it smiles. 

Step after step it comes closer. It looks and it smiles, melancholy in its eyes. Oh it’s such an addictive feeling, it could get lost in it. The beauty of incoming decay, the song of the past victims. Prayer sighs and then stops. Right at the edge it looks into the void below. It wishes jumping didn’t mean the end of an adventure. 

Instead it drops inside a burning torch. 

The light isn’t swallowed instantly, instead burning in the hole for a while, illuminating the shining, wet teeth. The sweet scent quickly turns into an odor of burning body, and a high shriek pierces the dungeon. 

Prayer smiles victoriously, a vicious glim of successful violence clearly visible on its face. It walks away from the hole slowly, knowing fully well that it just saved at least a few other courses and animals that otherwise would get eaten.
