[DD1] Mantis the Knowing (Of Monsters)
A crack in the ceiling, bright moonlight filters through,
On a mossy pedestal rests a gorgeous chest.
Enter the chamber these heraldic horses two,
With the magic of dungeons they have been blessed.
Bairaz quickly freezes, for there is more in the light:
The bones of predecessors decorate the floor,
Piles upon piles, bleached by time the color white.
But young Mantis, the Knowing, they see even more.
"You must be lonely," Mantis states, walking near chest.
"All the lonely beings, they need not be alone,
And if we band together, would that not be best?"
They asked the mimic, using a quiet, kind tone.
Mantis has their giant moth as a companion
But Father has only them to accompany.
It is a monster, but they get past that canyon,
What is a monster but potential company?
When some see their powers, they view them as cursed,
More dangerous than any true monster found here,
Thus, beings that are called monsters are not the worst.
Only a monster will hold other monsters dear.
