Prompt: Every Courser hears the call of the dungeon in their lifetime. Most answer. Some don’t. What is it you seek here beneath the surface: Treasure? Adventure? Or something harder to define?

As Cordula left the pixies behind they began to question why they had come down here. Thus far there had been no treasure or signs of places where treasure might be hidden, the pixies had only made them question any desire for adventure they had, and they were beginning to miss the warmth of the sun upon their pelt. The only comfort in the dark of the caverns was the light emanating from their lantern. The golden glow was a comfort that eased the anxiety of the courser as they continued onwards.

There was a calling from the dungeon, something that Cordula could not name. Driving them forward, driving them deeper. Tugging at their very soul. It felt like someone was waiting for them but could not yet be revealed. Cordula would have to discover what that was for themselves.

Whatever it was though they knew it was deep within and they would not find it this time around. If a bunch of angry pixies scared them away though, then they knew they would never make it to where they needed to go. Experience was what they needed, and knowledge. The more Cordula learned about the dungeon the better their chances would be of reaching their goals.

Finally Cordula stopped to take a break. Enough distance had been placed between themselves and the angry pixies that the pixies were certain to have stopped their pursuit of the horse. Finding a comfortable place, they set down their lamp upon a large stone and settled into the litter that covered the floor. Old leaves crunched as the courser laid upon them. Finally, they could breathe.
