[DD1] Bairaz the Wild (The Role of Father)
Though odds were greater in numbers, he was alone.
Greenery followed him, but plants were not enough.
An idea came to create a child, his own,
To keep his spirits high when his life did get rough.
Bairaz the Wild could not diminish his magic,
So settling anywhere, that he still could not do.
He wondered if a child would have his curse tragic.
Now thought, the idea, it continued to brew.
Would he be like his parents, he had to wonder;
They had left him alone, to wander until death…
His own family, he would not tear asunder
His child would have a home, as long as he had breath.
Gathering magic, he focused on his own wish:
A child of the wild, his own to care for and love.
His heart desperately hoped he was not selfish.
A glow fell from the ceiling, a star from above;
Mantis breathed its first breath, opening its blue eyes,
The foal was covered in marks which almost seem to see.
Bairaz had found in this foal, the greatest of prize;
A companion he cherished, his own child would be.
