[DD1] Who Are You?
- Perched upon a mossy rock is the largest toad you've ever seen. Not one of those "big" toads. A truly humongous one. He puffs on a long pipe, blowing smoke from open chambers in his back. His horizontal pupils betray his intelligence. He opens his mouth and speaks to you: "WHO ARE YOU?"
Oswin confidently paced through the caverns, inspecting the plant life, tapping on the bricks, doing anything to find something interesting in the caverns. So far, all he had found were some glowing plants and some chests that had already been rummaged through. He let out a huff as he began to grow restless. The only goal he had, since he discovered the dungeons, was to collect as many riches as he possibly could, and so far his collection was humble to say the least, unlike Oswin.
The weld stallion was about ready to head back for the night, but decided to inestigate one more hallway. He puffed out his chest and took a deep breath, confident a prize would be waiting for him at the end. He started to squint as he traversed the passage, the air becoming thick with a strange smelling smoke. As soon as he opened his mouth to complain, someone or something spoke first.
"WHO ARE YOU?"
The voice was deep and almost gutteral as it bounced off of the moss covered brick. Oswin made a quick turn right where the smoke was the thickest and spotted a toad. A BIG toad. Probably the biggest toad he had ever seen.
"WHO ARE YOU?"
The toad asked. Ah, so it was the frog that was speaking, which was even more peculiar to Oswin.
"You should tell me who YOU are first!"
Oswin's ears pinned back to his head as he awaited the answer, growing more and more impatient as time went by with no response.
"Why?"
The green toad took a long drag from his pipe before the one word response, which didn't please Oswin one bit.
"Because! Why would a toad talk!?"
He could feel his frustration bubble up inside him the longer this already short conversation went on. The toad would move and speak so slowly and it was eating away at Oswin's patience.
"Hm... Why wouldn't a toad talk?"
Another huff of exasperation made its way past Oswin's lips as the toad continued with its ridiculous questions. This wasn't what he was looking for at all. Not even close. This was quickly becoming a waste of his time.
"I don't have time for this."
The palomino said as he turned to walk away from the toad hid away in the walls of the cavern.
"Mind your temper..."
The toad called out to him as Oswin made his way to a more familiar area to the cavern. Why would he have to mind his temper? HE was the one being bombarded with useless questions. Thoughts continued to stir in Oswin's head for the rest of the night, and he couldn't stop thinking about the encounter with the toad. Maybe the toad's statement would mean something one day... maybe it wont...
