[EASY] Slip 'n Slide
Sovereign was feeling pretty good about this new team. Or maybe he was just feeling good about not having Fetch trailing behind him, repeating everything he said. Either way, he was optimistic.
At least, he was optimistic until the dungeon rapidly began to get danker and more… unsanitary. The air was so thick with humidity it formed a thick fog that meant he was squinting into the dark beyond their torchlight. “Ugh. This is awful. I can’t see anythi-“
He had taken a step forward, and all of a sudden the floor sloped and he went careening downward with a yelp.
—
This was Shamrock’s first time with a team, and he was pretty excited about it. Even the damp, guano-filled hallway couldn’t dampen his excitement The dark-faced Courser, Sovereign, and the golden one, Fortune, both seemed more experienced than him, so he was happy to follow their lead.
Unfortunately, that meant he was only a hair behind Sovereign when he went spilling down the incline. “What happened, where’d you goOOOOOOO!” Shamrock took one too many steps forward looking after the other Courser and went tumbling after him, losing his balance as the slick floor took his hooves out from under him.
—
Coronet wasn’t sure how the Heraldic had talked him into coming, but she had. Some sort of platitude about the group not having rules, just exploring together for the increased safety. And Faithful had seemed to like her. In a lapse of judgment he’d agreed, and now he found himself bound into a group, heading into an increasingly humid and dirty dungeon.
Faithful the hound trotted at this side as he followed Sovereign and Shamrock. They were leading the way into whatever mucky challenges lay ahead. He let out an exasperated sigh as a gob of ooze from the ceiling twacked into his back. It was clear they weren’t going to stay long. He was nearly abreast with Shamrock when Sovereign’s complaint was abruptly cut off. He took another step forward, and then he was sliding too. Indignantly he slipped and slid on the overly slick floor. Faithful let out a shrill bark, and then he could hear a scramble of claws. It seemed the hound was following them all down.
—
Fortune brought up the rear of the hastily assembled party. She’d adventured with Sovereign before, and despite being greenhorns they’d been surprisingly successful. This time they’d ditched both Fetch and Terrence, and found a pair of other Coursers. Fortune was a bit relieved, and hoped these two would behave themselves. As she pondered what challenges would await them, she heard a strange noise ahead, from the others. Shamrock’s surprised shout-question echoed from the walls, and she could hear Coronet’s hound baying. “What’s going on?!?” The heraldic dashed forward, right onto the slick slope. “Oh - oh nooooooo.” She slid after her party, squeezing her eyes shut and hoping for a smooth landing.
You bat away sticky drippings dangling from the ceiling as you duck into a new passage. A moist haze keeps your torchlight from revealing much, so you don’t see the downward slope ahead of you until your hoof slips on the mucky floor. You are suddenly speeding down a slick, gooey slide into darkness, gaining momentum as the dungeon whips past you.
