[DD2] Aw Man My Horse Dagger
She whistled for her osprey to collect a shiny bauble for resale later to save up for...well Winona hasn't figured that part out yet but she sure is building up some coin savings for whatever the future may hold. Plus it's a great way to also be safe in rations for any big adventure into these underground labyrinths. Though she had never actually been this deep through the volcanic areas of the dungeons before, so it was all new to her in a way.
A burst from a hot geyser suddenly erupted next to her, which made her stupid horse brain decide flight was appropriate to get away as she spooked. She stumbled backwards to get away from the dangerously boiling water and steam erupting from the geyser, not wanting to receive burns. In her focus to get herself away she didn't realize she was about to tumble backwards over a rock, sending her almost comically falling back in the world's most ungraceful and unintended backflip known to Courser kind as she landed just a few inches from lava. The hard landing jolted her pack loose, sending a dagger that had been safely tucked away to fall out...straight into the rivery fire.
Winona watched with defeat as her small dagger melted in seconds in the volcanic river of red and black before her very eyes. It was not her only pointy and stabby form of defence, she had another dagger but it was still rather unfortunate and irritating to lose a useful piece of equipment to something as ridiculous as a clumsy misstep when she is so rarely this incompetent.
She sighed deeply, disappointed but quick to recover as she got back up to continue her excursion into the firey dungeons before her. She couldn't allow herself to linger on issues, that was unhelpful and annoying to herself and herself only. She hates messing up, the roan giant always has since she was a wee filly. No one ever made her feel awful for doing so, she just was a natural perfectionist who couldn't stand the thought of even slightly putting herself in danger. Even more so her osprey companion...and Czar when he was with her.
No. No time for failure. She must get up, dust herself off and continue her dungeon spelunking for whatever valuables and equipment she can bring back to keep her little herd well-fed & cared for and their coin banks financially good. This was her happy place, being a strong fighter and protector. A...parental figure of sorts, she supposed.
- One of your possessions drops from your pack into the lava. Most materials will melt at these temperatures, and before you can reach it, it’s a lost cause. Blast it. What did you lose?
