[DD2] Oh Those Doggos Are Not Friendly

The steps of a little Courser would be heard throughout the volcanic levels of the dungeon, another smaller steps of a tabby cat companion but more silent as they followed Czar. He had thought that they could do a dive into the volcanic levels of the dungeons by themselves. Czar had not had his plucky bravery tested yet by the perils of the dungeons and Daniel would fight god if it meant getting a sick meal. He wasn't completely paying attention to where he was going infront of himself, his eyes down on the ground watching for all the pockets of lava.

He froze in place as he was suddenly face to face with a pack of hellhounds, their patchy dark fur drowned out by the bright glow of a molten skeleton underneath with the hellhounds looking briefly as surprised to meet a Courser. Usually most Coursers were too large for these hellish canines to take on even as a pack, but Czar's smaller than usual size made him a viable meal.

"Uh, good boy?" He said with his usual brave and friendly demeaner before his face would drop the friendly expression to one of alarm, as the hellhound infront of him snarled with a hunger for a meal. It was not infact a good boy, it is a very hungry boy and it was eyeing up Czar for dinner. Daniel's fur puffed up in fearful aggression at the hellhound pack, crab-walking slowly before scrambling to get onto the Courser's back for safety. Czar felt something he had not felt in the dungeons before. Fear. And that fear told him he needed to bolt. Immediately.

Ignoring the claws of his cat friend digging deep into his skin to hold on for dear life as he ran, using his small size to make use of small openings that he could fit through to take much needed shortcuts to put distance between them and the hellhounds as they chased him, barking and snarling with ravenous hunger in their snarls. His eyes wide and darting to look for anyway to put a good enough amount of distance to either lose the beasts or make them give up.

With swift and nimble steps the little Courser would make a leap of faith across a large lava-filled chasm to escape the hellhounds that were on his tail in the hopes of Courser for dinner. His landing was anything but graceful, his legs buckling as he fell facefirst to the ground, sending his unfortunate feline rolling away like a furry and angry bowling ball a few feet away. Czar dreaded to peer back at the hellhounds, but he did so anyway to see if they would attempt to follow him over the gap.

One big hellhound, presumably the pack leader gave Czar a stare that could freeze blood, in a way that it seemed to be attempting intimidation upon the little Courser before being distracted by the angry hissing of Daniel. A few seconds later and the big hellhound turned around with a frustrated snarl to leave, it's pack following in resignation as they gave up the hunt. "I thought I could do this alone, but this is hard without Winona...isn't it, Daniel?" he said worriedly to his feline companion as he stared across the chasm at the leaving canines, the molten bones glowing almost as bright as the lava itself as the pack meandered back to the furnace halls to find another means of obtaining food.

Czar didn't want to linger and neither did Daniel as the two shaken up explorers got to their hooves & paws to quickly exit out the dungeon. The Courser's bravery had left him for the first time in his life.
