[DD1] Unfamiliar Flora For The Dungeon Dweller

Korhonen gazed upon the vast tree with deep indigo tired eyes of long-lost curiosity,  silently having to admit that the fact that such a large tree could grow so deep underground with little to no light. Korhonen has never gone outside of the dungeons for as long as he has remembered, so foliage of such a great size was an extremely rare sight for the dark-loving Courser.

Something was overriding his want to just move on and keep searching for anything of value, but there was an unusual feeling around this lone tree that was seemingly compelling the lonesome Courser to linger within the tree's isolated cavern to begin silently plodding around the tree to take a look around the cavern.

Korhonen thought it would be a good start to follow the largest bunch of tree roots to see what would be at the 'end' of the roots, expecting mostly dirt and moss. It seemed to be exactly that at first as Korhonen saw plenty of moss and the like, not all that unusual for a Courser that never saw the light such as himself. He was starting to think this was a waste of his time, almost about to give up and leave when his hoof hit something hard yet brittle in the darkness. Looking down, Korhonen would see what was the remains of a very old Courser. Well, what was left of it as it was merely a few scattered bones of a partially missing skeleton of one.

He stared deeply at the roots that had snaked through the ancient Courser skeleton, the sight of such a thing almost forcing Korhonen to express an emotion that was of the sad kind. But...he would be lying if he didn't feel that such a demise wasn't sad. The thought of dying alone with no one to know that you had met your end here, both sad and embarassing in the woad Courser's opinion. Still, he felt something compelling him to atleast honour this long-deceased horse.

With a few minutes of digging up some of the few cave-dwelling flowers with his hooves, he would start to replant them all around the skeletal remains to feel a sense of giving the long-gone Courser a new purpose of being home to flowers. He was no gardener, but he was satisfied with his little replanting in the hope that if the Courser's spirit is somewhere then it can feel remembered in a meaningful way.

Satisfied and feeling that compulsion of hanging around that tree dissipate, he would begin to leave the tree's cavern to go back to his search for valuable treasure. He thought deeply about the Courser remains, wondering if he would end up like that if the woad Courser would keep to his rule of never leaving the dungeons. Or if he even CAN die anymore with his unusual...vampiric situation.

  • In a particularly vast chamber, you come across a lone tree whose roots reach claw-like into the stone. It is the only tree you’ve ever seen in the caverns. Though you haven't felt a breeze since venturing underground, the tree’s branches sway and creak above you. You feel compelled to do something… But what?
