Lucia had explored the dungeons. She'd visited the furnace. Put through her paces to the max, but this? This was different. Clawing her way back into her mother's good graces, holding onto the desperate hope that she'd be allowed back into the fold. It was one step forward, two steps back, with that woman. Mother had been cold, cold for a long time. For nearly as long as Lucia's memory stretched. If she thought about it hard enough then maybe there were glimpses of the woman she was before, but it was hard. Hard to sink her teeth into, hard to really get a good idea of how things had been.

It's easy to view things through rose colored glasses. Especially things that were no longer material. Lucia's heart gives a squeeze as she thinks of her father. His presence would only get stronger as they entered the Moors, like he was walking along side her down here. It's his strength that she can draw on, especially as she follows Logue's confident strides deeper. He seemed to have it all together, and she feels a strange kinship to the underdog as they adventure on. Mother's opinion on the man wasn't the highest, but Lucia found him kind and understanding. Logue did what he could to quell her anxiety as they explored the dungeon.

Really, Logue had been the easy choice, going this deep into the dungeon. He was a warm reminder of the mentors within the company that had fallen away, or left the group, over time. As companionable silence stretches between them, Lucia dwells on Fiero. The man that had assisted her in finding Capo, that had set her up for success. Heck, he'd even been the one to take her down to the furnace, for the first time. Mother swore she wasn't ready, too weak, too soft. The first one to really believe in her, and teach her to trust her instincts. Earnest and kind, and it was under his careful instruction that Lucia had truly flourished.

Conflict with mother had driven him out. Lucia still felt guilty about it, felt like she'd caused it. Something about him being too gentle with her. When pitted against her sisters, Lucia was the one who'd come out on the bottom, time and time again. A girl too careful, too soft for the dungeons. Too soft to take over the company, caring too much about the dungeon. Fiero had taught her about respecting the dungeon, and the dungeon respecting her in return. Being careful not to remove things that were meant to rest down here eternally, not disturbing the ecosystem too much. Accusations that he was too soft for the dungeon flew, as well. Her ear had been pressed to the door during the argument. It still stung, even now.

"Don't get too caught up in your own head, now," Logue's smile was lopsided, bringing Lucia back down to earth. Pulling her from her own thoughts, drawing her out of her head... right. The air was thick down here, not with humidity, but something else. Something heavier. A distinct sort of sorrow coloring every step, held within the walls. "It's beautiful, right?" His words echo inside Lucia's head for a long moment before she remembers to answer. Trying to mirror his smile, giving a tentative nod. She'd tell herself it didn't look more like a grimace than intended, but they're doing okay. All things considered, they're doing okay. A deep breath, in through her nose, out through her mouth. Lucia couldn't dwell on the things outside her control. All she needed to do was focus on the dungeon, focus on her new guide.

Spirits aren't the only things haunting the Moors. They're not the only things haunting Lucia now, and she's glad for Logue's company. Learning as much as she can from him, that needs to be her focus right now. Trying not to falter as she screws her head back on straight, if he's noticed, he's kind enough not to mention it. That, or he's too busy marveling at the Moors themselves. Either way, the girl gathers herself as they continue on. Though it's their first trip into the dungeons together, Lucia hopes it won't be their last.
