[DD1] Strohmeier - DD #2
Strohmeier ventured deeper into the dungeons, he grew gradually more and more suspicious of the thicker and closer together vines that were covering most of the tunnel at this point. As he noticed an opening further in, he grew weary and kept an extra eye on his surroundings, the last thing he wanted was to get ambushed, seeing as he was venturing alone this time, against his better judgment.
As he reached the end of the tunnel, he hastily looked behind him as he thought he saw movement in the corner of his eye, but there was nothing but calmly swaying vines and dripping water. Suspicious..
He looked back ahead and saw a gigantic, colourful plant had taken root in the pot of the caved in floor of what was once most likely a room. He looked up to see a hole, roughly the same size in the ceiling, and couldn't help but think that it all caved in due to this beast of a flower.
The stench the flower was emitting was gut wrenching, and Strohmeier was very thankful he lacked the ability to puke, but the nausea was no joke. He couldn't help but notice decaying flesh and bones from the bulbous plant's “belly”, which was emitting a vague but ominous glow, just enough to show what was bathing within. He shuddered, imagining what a slow and painful death that must've been for them.
On high alert, Strohmeier scouted the area, but he couldn't spot any safe way across, as the little floor left around the edge of the room seemed highly unreliable and unstable. He sighed, knowing full well he had a long way back to go just to find the previous crossroads, but what choice did he have?
Just as he turned around to make his way back, something swung towards him and he just barely managed to duck away in time. The realization kicked in. That carnivorous plant was sentient. Not wanting to waste a second or risk getting gulped up, Strohmeier bolted through the corridor, doing his very best to avoid stumbling on the roots and vines covering the floor, he did not sign up to become plant food.
Well out of the corridor, he stopped, heart beating and legs shaking from adrenaline. He would for sure need a bit of a break after this adventure to calm down and regain his courage to venture alone.
