[MEDIUM] Falling Apart
Paige squealed in delight as the wall fell open, disappearing into the ground without a sound despite its great size. She glanced at the others, proud of what she had achieved, and trotted through to the next room with Cinder at her side, expecting them to follow her without the proud arrogance Sorrel would have displayed.
"Nicely done, Paige. I'll need to remember that if I ever come across it again." Tyffyn praised, bumping the Yearling with her hip as she walked past, investigating the next chamber with caution, having not fully recovered yet, though decidedly better than before.
Neo slipped to the other side, lantern affording her a little more light as she circled the room, careful of where she placed her hooves, and relying somewhat on Screech's aerial reconnaissance to help for those things she couldn't see.
She'dalmost made it to the other side of the chamber, and the heavy door that blocked the next room when Sorrel stepped inside, looking up when he spoke to ask whether the exit was a safe one.
Whether it was his entry to the room that was the trigger, or the question itself, a sharp gust of chilling wind suddenly blasted from underneath them, all four coursers jumping away from the blasts of air closest to them as bits of the ground suddenly started falling away.
A surprised yelp, and a suddenly very scared "Cinder" immediately followed, the wolf having managed to step around one wind blast onltly to lose her footing as the ground separated completely, claws scrabbling on stone as she tried to pull herself up.
Neo, quiet as ever but by far the closest, immediately ran forwards, seemingly ignoring the floor as it fell away from her and focusing instead on reaching down to pull Cinder up by the scruff if her neck to Paige's relieved thanks, all of which was only visible thanks to the constantly burning flame she'd taken from the Earthen Furnace mere hours ago.
Sorrel had at least taken the time to identify the door they'd come through was now very much closed, and despite the significant lack of light in the chamber, managed to leap onto the same section that Neo was standing on, calling out to the others as soon as he did so, "We have to jump! The exit is this way!"
A sudden blast of cold air from below douses your torches and lanterns. The grinding of stone on stone is heard as sections of the path underfoot pull away from each other. The platforms of solid ground drift apart, a chilling abyss stretching out below their separation.
