[DD2] The Tales of the Empty Grave 19
They passed through the cauldron quickly and came to a fork that Crispin was sure he had never seen before. Then they approached what seemed to be a blank wall and after Jordan whispered some words to it, a cloaked figure engulfed entirely in flame popped out of the ground.
Crispin was sure that it was just an illusion, perhaps one of the traps that Jordan mentioned but it held out it's hand and Jordan actually rifled in his pack and dropped a non-descript looking keep into it hands.
The key caught fire and burned to a crisp but then the wall morphed into an ornate metal gate, through the gate he could see an enormous keep in the distance, surrounded by burnt and dead trees and craggy sone hills and cliffs.
Jordan was not at all exaggerating when he talk about its size. Crispin was literally speechless.
"What the heck, this is incredible!" Crispin sputtered.
"Indeed, an excellent find, praise be to the Wolf for his guidance and care," Jordan said. It was something he said often but he truly meant every word.
"Undoubtedly," Crispin agreed.
When they passed through the gate, then the fiery figure disappeared and along with it the gate returned to being a solid wall.
The skeletons were marching up the winding path to the keep ahead of them while Crispin looked around him wondering if he had been teleported to another dimension or even to a secret part of the surface world. He knew it was probably not the later, because there were no stars in the sky, but yet it was not completely pitch black either. Some unnatural light source was bathing the entire area in a pale hue similar to moonlight.
"Is any of this soil usable for growing?" Crispin asked, "And this is so much space, you should literally build an entire city around this."
"You're correct, I never considered that..." Jordan answered, "As for the soil, that is Quill's area. He is planning something... there is an extensive garden behind the keep which is walled in."
"Oh wow... I am still amazed," Crispin muttered, "If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes I wouldn't have believed it."
Jordan nodded, and explained that he understood.
"I was stunned when I came across it myself and my ten didn't even believe me until I brought them to see it," Jordan said.
Crispin's shock was still not completed. He stood stock still in the next moment when they crested the first hill and he was able to look around further and see a massive lake.
"What the fuck?" he cursed.
"That part connects to the overgrown caverns," Jordan explained, "The water is potable and has in fish..."
Crispin was completely undone and needed a long moment to simply stare.
