Kamphire had settled somewhat into the new reality of them having a child. The foal was eating and drinking some food that they prepared by the light of Kamphire's wisp while he and Calix talked over what they wanted to do. The foal was so obviously a mix between the two of them that it was heartwarming to see.

"I'll raise her myself with no need for a boarding school," Kamphire said quietly.

"We can do it together of course. This is different from my other dungeon born children," Calix maintained, "Luckily you're about to buy that bungalow and she'll have a lot of room."

"Do you think she will be interested in dungeon diving?" Kamphire asked.

"Definitely. She is very curious already," Calix pointed out, "Do you mind?"

"If you are willing to mentor and teach her the way you and Edos have mentored me then I don't see any problem with it..." Kamphire reasoned.

"How would you feel about her joining the militia eventually? Two of her elder dungeon born brothers are there now, training to be officers," Calix told him.

Kamphire didn't know how he felt about it for his foal. For himself it was not something he wanted, but both of his partners were in the militia so he couldn't cry it down.

"I'll let her make her own decisions," Kamphire said at last, "No matter what she does with you for guidance I don't think she'll be in any danger."

"Then all that is left is to pick a name for our new family member," Calix said.

"Ah, she can have your family name since I don't have one," Kamphire reasoned, "As for her given name, let's call her Casey."

"It's settled then," Calix readily agreed, "Casey it is."

Casey ambled over to them and nosed each of them, her eyes sparkling with happiness.

"We've named you Casey," Calix told her, "Do you like it?"

"I like," Casey neighed.

It was still fascinating to Kamphire how intelligent foals were when born.

"We'll take you home shortly," Calix promised, "But I want to see if I can find you a pet on the moor first."

Casey nickered happily at that and rubbed against Calix's leg then trotted back over to make friends with the wisp.  Kamphire watched her feeling as if his heart had expanded three times the size.
