Having dissuaded Quintus from hunting the chanfron-armored crab, the question of what would be had at mealtime began to rise within Mars' mind. They could refocus their exploration efforts towards hunting more actively and see what sort of edible monstrosities they could subdue. Mars hummed thoughtfully as she rounded the next corner in the passage they'd been following, absently chatting to Quintus over her shoulder.

"We haven't hunted down here before, should we give it a go? Even if we mamage to find something, would it even be safe to eat? It would probably be safer to check with others before we get too adventurous." The slender-winged bird listened intently, considering the Courser's words with a ruffle of feathers.

Quintus clicked his beak a few times before responding evenly, "Perhaps you're right - I don't even know of that weird crab would have been safe to eat. Let's dig in to our rations for now."

Mars nodded to the bird, blond streaked tail swishing with the finality of the choice. Nosing through one of the leather bags strapped to her flank, Mars produced several neatly wrapped packages of dried morsels. Carrying them to a little nook worn into one of the passage walls, Mars laid out the foodstuffs for herself and Quintus to dine on. For now their prepared rations would do, but for longer excursions hunting dungeon creatures would be necessary. Mars wasnt perturbed by the idea - her time commanding wartime legions had taught her to live off whatever the environment could provide. This Sunken Kingdom would be no different.
