Sounds of laughter and hoof steps echoed in the cavern as the two Coursers caught their breath. They had just been running away from some Hellhounds, their snarls could still be heard far away, they had given up the chase.

"For a second I thought I was going to have to turn around and save you, not many can keep up with me you know," Terrence said with a friendly, teasing snicker.

"I've been working hard!" Blaze held his head up high and Terrence continued to laugh.

"I can see that," He looked behind them back down the path they came, "Well guess we won't be able to go back that way, not unless you want to deal with the hounds again?" Terrence looked to Blaze, "What'dya say we take the scenic route?"

"There's a scenic route down here?" Blaze gave him an incredulous look but Terrence just smiled.

"Come on, I'll show you, this way!" Terrence took off at full speed and it took Blaze a moment to even attempt to catch up to the speeding stallion. So far their trip hadn't gone according to plan at all. They were meant to check out this massive cavern a floor above but unfortunately there was a giant snail in the way and trying to get past it was more trouble than it was worth so then Terrence asked him to come down here which was NOT according to the plan at all! Blaze hadn't wanted to show him the cavern because it had these beautiful glowing gems that he thought Terrence might like and there he was going to confess his feelings to the stallion, he even had a gift for him! Instead they were down here in the furnace wasting time and all the confidence that Blaze had tried to build up to confess. At least Terrence didn't seem to be having a bad time.

Blaze was suddenly pulled out of his thoughts when the floor began to shuffle beneath him and magma roared to life. Bubbling lava hissed and popped. Blaze in a panic reared and the flap to his bag flew open and with it the gift for Terrence, his favorite berries! "No!" Blaze hesitated for only a moment wanting to reach in and grab it but Terrence nipped at his mane to pull him back, "Come on! Whatever it was I'll get you a new one let's go!" The two rushed to the other side of the melting floor.

"Please tell me that wasn't the scenic route you wanted me to see," Blaze looked back as the floor disappeared completely into the lava.

"Ah, no. I would never purposely lead you through that, it caught us both off guard unfortunately. Guess we're definitely not going back that way, come on, there's another way back up!" Terrence took off again but Blaze stayed back for a moment to stare at the lava, looking longingly for the gift he had brought, but it had already been engulfed in the lava it would be impossible to get it back now. The day had been ruined.
