[DD3] Disrespectful - Sweep
The pond infront of us stretched for a few meters in each direction, and I’d have stomped right through it if it weren’t for Goud stopping me.
I looked over at him questioningly. ‘What?’
‘Would you use your eyes for once and take a look?’ Goud said with more of a snap in his tone than normal.
Raising an eyebrow, I stepped a little closer to the pond, and looked in. Instead of the dreary grey sky I expected to see reflected back at me, I saw the brightest blue sky I’d seen for weeks. I leaned closer, close enough that my whiskers were milimeters away from the surface. Ignoring Goud’s murmured ‘careful’, I looked inside the pond. There were tents laid out in every direction, with banners flapping in the wind. Even though it was clearly a battlefield, the sense I got overall was of joy – the colours were all so vibrant, everything was so full of life. I looked up, at the silent Moor that I stood in with Goud, and for a moment sadness washed over me.
The silence was suddenly broken by a deep baying howl, and I snapped my head up to sweep the horizon. As I did so, a badge fell off my jacket and dropped into the pond – which didn’t ripple as I expected it to, but instead the image inside cracked as though I’d broken a mirror. I would have considered it odd, but I was already galloping as fast as I could in the direction of the howl, leaving Goud’s furious muttering far behind me.
