[DD1] Creepy Crawlies | Yuzu's Descent
The path curved and curved, looping in on itself enough times that if she were a lesser explorer, Yuzu would have found herself lost. Instead, she made sure to mark her path with shallow scratches in the wall. They were illuminated by the fungi that still glowed, though these ones didn't sing.
A pity, she quite liked the musical ones.
She paused as she rounded another corner. This one opened up into another wide cavern filled with bioluminescent creatures. Her skin didn't tingle with lightning here; this glow was completely mundane in the magical sense. But oh, the more she looked the less mundane it seemed.
Giant cocoons hung from the ceiling and walls. The ones that closed the brightest had monsters inside, beasts that wiggled and moved with life. Motion to her right made her ear flick, swiveling towards it. She couldn't pin down what the sound was, but she wasn't sure she really wanted to know.
Yuzu could handle many things. Giant bugs were not one of them. Those were most definitely giant bugs.
A shudder ran through her from nose to tail tip and Yuzu hurried her step. As fascinating of a find as this was, she was not keen on sticking around to look into it more. She would happily leave that for the more… bug inclined explorers. She would make note of it in her journal of course, but beyond that…
No thank you.
She trotted past the swaying cocoons, wove through the ones tethered to the floor, and pointed didn't look at the work creature building a new one off to her side. If she looked straight ahead she didn't have to acknowledge its existence.
Even the wisp from before had abandoned the room. It must not be a fan of giant bugs either.
That, they could agree on.
Nevermind the fact she'd have to come back through this room when she leaves. She will not think about it. She simply won't.
Will I ever decide how to title these so the series is obvious? Time will tell cause the jury is out.
