[DD2] New Treasure

Icarus wasn't so certain anymore.

After their party's narrow run-in with those undead canines down in the Dungeon, they have had to take a rest period back on the surface for all those nasty bites, scrapes, and emotional wounds to heal. Archiemedes was none too happy with Icarus; he almost got himself killed, and by extension, Archimedes and Diomedes, too. In no layman's terms was Icarus told to go figure his shit out and to only give the brothers a ring when he did - or else he would no longer be trusted to dive with them until then.

At first, the ultimatum enraged him. He was the best of their three, was he not? Their leader (read: his big ego thought he was), their hero, their knight in shining armor they could always count on to save the day. What could they accomplish without him? Surely they could come galloping back if Icarus took too long to rest, and then they would be sorry and beg him to tag along and...

No. Perhaps they would not.

He pawed out the items from his pack, having lost a couple confusing maps from that skirmish. Among other things. More important things. Not even the sight of his own reflection in the clearwater fragment, a cherish item of comfort and safety he looked to whenever he was in the Dungeon, could lift his spirits this time. Icarus set it aside. He had this, but not the last thing of his brother anymore. Would this be enough to keep him moving forward next time? If there was a next time?

Next were miscellaneous things, snacks, and- Oh. A wad of moss fell out of the pack. Icarus shuddered at the gross, lumpy thing having been in with all his stuff. Yet, he remembered Dio put this in here. A present, his friend had mentioned at the time, from him and Archie. Wrapped by Dio, he also said, which Icarus assumed meant.. the moss. Wonderful.

Icarus dug the damp "package" open to find a small, stone figure. It was worn out, green dots of growth flecking the open pores of the stoneface, carved in the shape of a... biped. One of those things they found bones of constantly in the Buried Kingdom below. This one looked like it wore armor, fitted to its odd two-legged body but not much different than that of what they Coursers wore. Maybe.. this was a knight. It had to be. He could make out the shape of a sword in its hand. Yes, this had to be a knight! Maybe this is what his friends wished to tell him before they parted ways.

Maybe this would be his new treasure.

[DD2] Safety may be an illusion, but it is one a Courser must maintain to live the life of an adventurer. What do you do (or bring along) to help bolster your spirits and make you feel protected?

I've gotten this prompt for Icarus before, but I thought it'd be interesting to re-evaluate it in light of another prompt I did for DD2 and set it after that to see how things have changed for him since then!
