Neo enjoyed days like this, walking side by side with a friend, listening to her commentary on life, the universe, and all things that reside within. Fetch didn't always make sense to her, but she always made sense to herself, which was important enough for Neo to not feel like she needed to get too tied into the details.

It sounded as though there'd been sightings of Dragons, as of late - Fetch's attention piqued as they started to line up, indicating some truth in the idea which in turn was one of the reasons for finding Neo. While the cold flame was certainly the first reason - the slight chill it continued to emanate offering some respite from the stifling heat of the Earthen Furnace - it seemed as though Fetch's goal had been a companion as she investigated the claims.

In the same way Neo was not sure how long she'd lived in the dungeons herself, much of Fetch's life was a mystery, and for all she sometimes struggled to understand the full conversation Fetch would hold with her, the intention was plain and clear, and Neo trusted her opinion on most things because of it. The fact this meant they were investigating the reality of Dragons, particularly so close to the surface seemed... irrelevant.

"Coins are always useful. Have you got yours?"

There had been no change in the direction of Fetch's conversation, and while she paused for Neo's nod, no further clarification was provided - just a hum and a continuation of the most recent encounter she'd been told about.

They didn't travel long before Fetch's chatter started to fade, her attention on their surroundings as she tried to remember the little snippets of descriptions provided by those who had encountered the creature, and it was only a short while after that that they started to see short bursts of orange light, like a flame being lit and then quenched.

As they rounded the corner, the light flickered, and a looming shadow was evident - a winged beast, large enough to consume both of them without hesitation - looming and dangerous, stepping forward with menacing intent, the flames - for it was flames causing the light - flickering over the shape.

Fetch seemed.... unaffected, though Neo braced herself to fend off the creature, only for it to finally reveal itself as a wyrm. A descendent from the dragons sure, but not nearly so frightening as it's shadow suggested.

What it lacked in size, it made up for in attitude, charging forward with a small flame and an incredible amount of gusto, hissing its defiance of the intruders to its territory.

Obediently, and with Fetch's soft laughter behind her, she retrieved two coins, Fetch's earlier remark having had her prepared for such a thing. As with most things down here, apparently her friend had known there was no dragon lurking here - or at least, not here specifically, though she must have decided to verify the existence just in case.

None of which Neo minded, instead, she placed the coins at her feet, smiling as the wyrm darted forward and grabbed them, the garbled hiss to force Neo to stay back almost adorable in execution.

Once it had scampered off at last, Neo glanced back to Fetch, still eager to accompany her today, and not yet ready to return home.

Obediently, Fetch turned around, heading elsewhere in the Earthen Furnace, her commentary once more picking up, though as was the way with the odd Courser, not really saying anything that made sense in the given moment. Obediently, Neo filed away some of the more poigant comments in case they came in handly later - as was often the way with Fetch's observations.

The jury isn’t out on whether dragons truly lurk the dungeons. Some veteran adventurers claim to have seen them with their own eyes. Surely they wouldn’t be this close to the surface? The shadow you see on the wall begs to differ. You brace yourself to battle the beast – but the creature that accosts you is much smaller. A pesky wyrm coughs its tiny flame at you, mugging you for gold to add to its hoard.
