An unpleasant squelching sound could be heard from nearby and though it seemed to have no source at first, all of a sudden a ball of sentient slime was sitting in front of Shadow. He recoiled at first, memories of a recent expedition running through his mind. There was no way this slime was alive… right?

Something was telling him that it was alive though and that it was indeed staring up at the black stallion with one eyeball. Out of everything he had to deal with, why did it have to be this?

His companion wasn’t far behind him and laughed at the whole interaction. Shadow had told Phantom of the stupid slime covered dungeon he was in and the horses he had been stuck with, and the grey stallion thought it was the funniest thing ever.

“Hey, at least this one isn’t covering the floor, so unless you step on it you’re not going to go flying.” Shadow cast a glance his way with an unamused look on his face.

“Yea right, it probably has an army somewhere waiting to attack us. I don’t think you’d want that, would you?” Phantom shook his head no and looked down at the slime once more. It was just sitting there like it wanted something from them.

“I think it wants something from you Shadow, it ain’t going anywhere.”

“It will when I send it flying. I don’t think it’d want to come back after that.” The black stallion aimed his hoof where the creature had been only to see that it had somehow moved to Phantom instead. How did that happen, and without him hearing it?

Phantom gave it a light tap on the head with his hoof and a gentle smile. “It’s ok, I won’t let the big bad stallion hurt you. Besides, you might come in use later”

Shadow gave Phantom a snort and turned his back to him. “If you keep that thing I’m never hanging out with you again. I don’t need to be reminded of the slip n slide I went down every time I see it.” The grey stallion chuckled and shook his head.

“Don’t hang out with me then. I’m not gonna care, not gonna hurt my feelings if I never see you again. I don’t think you’d enjoy being lonely for very long though.” Shadow huffed at that and started walking away.

“See ya tomorrow dude!” Phantom couldn’t help but laugh at himself.
