[DD2] The Mystery of Solomon Strange 10
When they entered the next room, the charm once again changed colours.
"They are right around the corner now," Vynak said. It was impossible to hide the excitement in his voice.
Ian was very interested to see the Prince. One because it would be his first up close view with royalty and two because he heard it rumored in the family that Ravin and the prince were likely to end up mated. That made it very important to him to see the man that his Uncle was going to spend his life with.
Raphael didn't seem that moved on way or the other, but then he was from the capital and had probably seen the royal family many times.
When they turned the corner, they first saw a couple tents, which indicated that they had found a camp.
Then they saw three coursers, two adults and one foal. Ravin, Ian knew of course, but the heraldic courser was a sight to behold. From the shiny golden shoes, to the distinctive marking on is side, if this courser wasn't royalty then no one would be able to claim it.
"Wow, you came with a whole party," Ravin commented as the two groups met each other.
"Yes, I was concerned. I see you two met up with the foal," Vynak commented, "I didn't mean to intrude but I want to find him since he was my responsibility. I lost in the caverns and I thought it best to hire some help."
"Thank you for your concern, Vynak. And thank you to the Wolf Thorn militia members for accompanying him here," Nathaniel said. He had a deep and melodic voice. Ian found it very pleasant to listen to.
He made eye contact with Ravin and wiggled his eyebrows when no one else was looking. Ravin rolled his eyes.
"I'm sorry I ran off and worried you Mr. Vynak," the foal said to him, "By the way I chose a name! It's Solomon Strange!"
Ian thought it was a very unique name but he kept that to himself. He noticed the hounds were barking at a shadowy section of the wall and he went over there to investigate it.
Ravin called Vynak, Goud and Nathaniel to the side.
"We ended up here because at first we wanted to find the library Solomon talked about, but he neglected to say it was in the Moor. Instead we came to the cauldron to find his 'puppy' which turned out to be a shadow hound of some sort. It's around here somewhere but hard to see, it hides in shadows completely," Ravin explained, summing up all of the events in one go.
"I see," Goud responded, "That is quite a twisted tale. Not jumping to conclusions but it seems that the foal has a habit of withholding key information. If you are considering venturing with him into the moor to find this library, I suggest you either desist or take advantage of our full party."
Nathaniel seemed to be weighing his words carefully.
"I don't mind heading to the moor now," Nathaniel said finally, "However I would be shocked if it really is as simple as Solomon is making out to be. He doesn't have the best track record."
"I'll ask the two recruits if they are up for it," Goud said, "This is quite a lot for their first mission."
"Alright, let's allow them to make the decision," Ravin determined.
They parted ways and Goud went off to explain the situation to Ian and Raphael while Nathaniel and Vynak had a one on one conversation.
