[DD1] Sparkling discoveries

You enter a room in the Caverns full of massive, dangling pillars of silk. Upon further inspection, they are cocoons; in the light, you can see various giant caterpillars and moths in various stages of transformation.

These vulnerable creatures could be valuable, but you’re not sure what dangers they may pose if disturbed.   What do you do?

DRIP, DRIP, DROP DROP. That was the chorus the stalactites sung. Constantly, revently, forever and ever? — perhaps. Lotus wasn't so sure about that, the dungeons were forever changing, forever shifting, forever a path paved by the monsters, and supernatural ecosystem that was the dungeons. And those who knew the dungeons as their home, this applied to most creatures that truely spent their nights, and days in the depths, this was especially true for anything foreign too this mass expanse of the abysmal world of caverns, dungeons, forgotten histories and world's. It was those strange things, those remarkable curios that drew Lotus down from the very beginning.

So when Lotus found herself, dead step in the heart of an ancient, silken chamber. saying she was ecstatic to do so was beyond an understatement.

Her ears had dropped at the first off sound she had heard, the flutter of glittering wings, the suger sweet scent of the silk she walked over. It was a vast change to the rocky moss embedded floor of the tunnels hoof and hock stomped by most incoming or off going coursers. It was soft, a pleasant development to be certain, but to say danger did not exist in natures fine crafted beauty was a weightless rebuke. Lotus knew the dungeons well enough to know that statement was far beyond the brains of the very VERY small. Regretting not brining a torch or even a lantern weighed down on the mare, it took numerous attempts and unpleasant squint to notice the squishy looking worm infront of her nose, never before had a courser flew back so fast, or so Lotus believed. She couldn't see the end of this chamber or even where it had even begun, she heard fluttering whisp past her ears, and she could have SWORN. Something small and squeaky and soft just tapped her foreleg, of course it wasn't until the flap of wings and tiny little pokey things dug in down on her face, did the mares white eyes go wide.

From a distance, those oracle eyes mightve looked like two of the largest white pearls one might have ever seen, one wing began to glow. Then one after the other, brightness all around her like glowing gems that weren't gems and a glow that wasn't stinging to the eye. Even the fine silk around her sparkled and glittered and with it had the corridor come alive in a glow that made the previously dark room look a thousand timed as large as it really was ... .And it was big. Two small flutters on her nose exposed the culprit, a glittering silver moth with antennae as white as quartz, or maybe snow. The silken bridges all around the mare all looked like suspended snow, trapped in motion, dots of perfect white sparkles that dropped her jaw.

“By all the gods. . .” never in her life had Lotus seen a work of art so finely spun, bridges of white and pools of spun cocoons danced and dropped like water droplets from the sky. Long running and soft. Even the slightest touch might upset whoevers tiny life was protected and nestled deep within, deep below that soft spun shell.

“What find marvels...” she had whispered, careful not to offend any of the bright glowing moths that guided her step.

Further research would be needed for further investigation, further inspection, but these creatures were docile, unprovoked that was.. in a logical sense — leaving these creatures alone would be best, especially for one with so little experience in these deep dark dungeons. When the small wings fluttered off her nose. Lotus stepped forward and through, marking this strange chamber down on her map, where she had come and where she was going. She would need to come back to this place, she wanted to learn more about these strange Beautiful Creatures. She had known the moment she stepped hoof in here, that even touching a single cocoon, a fragile shell of development for these creatures would be catastrophic. A beautiful scene, that she would leave for the Dennison's of this cave to enjoy.
