[MEDIUM] Campaign 006: Training the Newbies Erin 3
Edos was able to easily leap over the gaps and nothing else happened to cause any issues, so they all followed after him. Once they were all safely on the other side, they headed through the doorway to the next room.
They had only walked a few feet when Edos stopped.
Before them was a giant hairless creature. It was facing away from them but clearly alive, because there was the rhythmic rising and falling of its body which showed it was breathing.
The other exit was in sight but it was a distance of several feet.
"We have to sneak past it," Edos whispered, "Everyone please be careful and follow my lead."
They forewent answering him given the delicate nature of the situation and simply watched as Edos carefully crossed behind the creature. His steps were soft and sure.
They each followed carefully behind him, doing their best to not make noise.
Even the two hounds who were usually the loudest smartly creeped along without a sound.
It was only when they were in the next room that they all breathed a sigh of relief.
"What do you think that was?" Erin couldn't resist asking.
"I honestly don't know," Edos responded and I don't want to have to find out either.
"Flynn either. It was too big to fight, who knows if it knows magic," he muttered, "This is a dangerous trip, I hope we can find a different way out."
"I agree with that, but I don't know how likely that is," Samantha reasoned, "However if we are lucky it will still be asleep when we pass back."
"It is worth it to hope," Edos said, "But let's keep a lookout for other ways out just in case."
Erin then looked around the room they were in. To his relief it didn't look anything like the chamber with the sarcophagus which gave him hope that they were no longer in the territory of the Necromancer.
"This looks quite old, everything is dusty... I don't think anyone has been here for a while,' Erin noted, "Not even our giant friend out there."
"There are some trunks here to be searched," Edos said and he looked at Flynn when he said it.
The madder perked up and headed over, unfurling his lockpicking tools and set to work.
Meanwhile Samantha and Erin searched the rest of the room while Edos scouted ahead.
The two found a bookshelf in one corner, most of the books were rotted but a few seemed usable.
"Wow, this one is about magic spells using herbs and a cauldron!" Erin exclaimed excitedly.
"You can take that one for yourself then," Samantha told him, "You are the only trained mage among us."
"I can feel the magic in you," Erin told her, "You have never trained it?"
"No, I mostly just channel it as wild magic," She explained to him, "I am not really interested in formal training and I don't use implements. I am more comfortable in a lab than in a mage's classroom."
"Ah, I understand. I still need to buy a proper wand for myself. The one I am using is the normal issue from my old Mage's Academy in the Light Court."
"I have always been meaning to ask how you have ventured so far..." she started, "But maybe you can tell me about it later when we make camp."
He readily agreed to that and then they got back to searching.
