The room ahead of them was mostly covered in lava, the only strip available for walking was currently occupied by a pack of hellhounds. They had not yet noticed the party so they were keeping still as they quietly discussed a plan of action.

Once again, Goud left it to Ian and Raphael to come up with the plan of attack or resolution.

Vynak was impressed by the bravery and gumption of the new recruits.

"Are they really just new recruits?" Vynak asked Goud in a low tone, "They seemed to be put together."

"Our training program is very well designed," Goud told him, "I would recommend anyone to let their youngsters come and try out."

Vynak considered that this might be a good place to send the foal.

"Alright, I don't think they would let us pass as easily as the imp," Ian said, "But it would be ill advised to try to fight them right by the lava."

"I agree."

"I will go and draw their attention and lead them back to this clearing," Ian decided, "After that, we can get the hounds to distract one of them, while we each face off with one a piece. Be careful not to get bitten or to let them touch you."

"Very well, I'll be prepared."

"It is an excellent plan but it had one flaw," Goud told him, "Please consider what it is."

The two looked stumped for a while but then Ian spoke up, "I think the flaw is that I should have asked for your assistance with the third hellhound instead of relying on the hounds who are likely to be outmatched."

"Excellent," Goud said, "Now your plan can proceed."

Ian gave the command to the hounds to stay back with Vynak and then galloped ahead to get the attention of the hounds.
