[DD2] The Mystery of Solomon Strange 8
Ravin and Nathaniel followed Solomon into the furnace. Nathaniel was looking around with interested eyes since this was his first ime everything we new and fascinating.
The foal was setting a pretty leisurely pace, not seeming to be in hurry which allowed Nathaniel to take his time and look around at everything.
The room they were in was warm and they could hear the sound of a forge being worked in the distance.
"I left my puppy about three rooms away from here," Solomon told them, "We shouldn't run into any trouble."
Ravin was skeptical about that.
He was proved right in the next moment when they left the large empty chamber and ventured into a slightly smaller one.
It was dark and gloomy with the only light source, coming from the exit on the either side.
When they stepped into the room, there was a sudden cacophony of tiny squeaky voices.
"HEY COURSER"
"Hahahahah"
"WATCH OUT!"
That was just the beginning as foul language poured down on them.
"It's imps," Solomon informed them.
Nathaniel's eyes shone red for a split second and the shadows int he room disperced and then reformed suddenly, seeming deeper and mosre sinister.
After that the voice turned to cries of terror and enmass about a dozen small winded inps streamed out of the room, as if fleeing.
Solomon looked uncharacterically serious at that moment. he was staring at Nathaniel.
"What did you do?" Solomon asked. His voice to Ravin's ears sounded more adult than every before.
"I chased them off," Nathaniel explained though that in itself offered no real understanding.
Solomon was quiet for a few minutes, it stretched on pass what was ocmfortable but no one said anything to break the off atmosphere.
Eventually, Nathaniel started to walk towards the exit.
The Solomon frowned a bit, seemed to cast off his more serious look and followed behind Nathaniel.
Ravin watched all of this with his mind whirling.
Clearly Nathaniel has some powers that I don't understand... and it seems to me that Solomon is a lot more serious under there than I thought. I might be the most normal person in his party.
When they got out of the chamber there was still no sign of imps they had chased off.
Ravin drew up next to Nathaniel.
"You have some explaining to you," Ravin whispered to him.
"I will tell you of course," Nathaniel assured him, "I wouldn't have revealed it to you if I didn't want you to know."
"Did you do it to scare Solomon?" Ravin asked.
He didn't bother to lower his voice. Solomon was a ways ahead of them and even if he heard, so what?
"Just letting him know that he is not the only one with secrets," Nathaniel said, "I have been trying to refrain from using my power on him, but time will tell."
Ravin was curious now and had the straneg feeling that this trip and its mysteries were only getting deeper.
