[DD2] The Mystery of Solomon Strange: Vynak Arc 6
The party made good head-way in the dungeon. The chamber where he had given up with easily conquered by Goud, and they were slipping through the crack and into the furnace itself.
The first room they come had a angry wyrm in it who seemed to be hesitating between weather to attack them or not.
Goud took away that decision.
"Raphael and Ian, this is your battle, go forth," he commanded the two junior members of the Wolf Thorn before saying to Vynak," My apologies, but we are in the middle of our training period."
"I don't mind," Vynak assured him. He had an understanding of how this things work.
"Yes Corporal!" Raphael said. He was eager to have his first ever battle and Ian was the same. They were part of the second recruit class and had a bit of a friendly competition going with the first class.
"Let's decide how to tackle this," Ian told him and the two of them lowered their head to talk.
Vynak watched as Raphael, a black courser and Ian a brown one, seemed to confer with each other briefly about the strategy before they drew their swords and sprang into action with their hounds assisting them.
They flanked the wyrm, on either side, one attacking a wing and the other his neck while the two hounds were biting at it's tail.
Raphael swung his sword and damaged the neck which stopped the wyrm from attacking them with its flame. Then Ian diaable the wing, which discreased it's mobitlity. From then on they had the upper hand.
It was a short and brutal battle after that with the wrym trying in vane to escape when it realized it had met it's match.
"It seemed to make habit of attacking adventurers," Goud noted watching Raphael and Ian riffle through the wyrm's hoarde.
Raphael came over dragging the treasure he plucked out.
"As per our agreement, ninety percent of it his treasure is yours" Raphael told him.
"There is no need for that," Vynak was quick to say.
"We'll take care of the details when we get back," Rapheal countered. He had no intention of going back on the agreement, it was a foundational part of the way the Wolf Thorn functioned. He had heard may stories from the veterans who had taught them, about the treasures they uncovered while on contract work and they each explained that it was important to stick by the agreement and not get greedy.
Vynak found that it was difficult to determine if Raphael had agreed with him or not but he knew it wasn't an argument to be had in this environment.
After bagging up the treasure, they continued on using Vynak's charm as a guide.
