[MEDIUM] Campaign 006: Training the Newbies Erin 1
Erin was excited to be finally going on a campaign as part of the strike team. The original plan had been altered because Ravin was a person of interest in a rescue mission that was brought up, and so the original plan to include Goud in a run to the cauldron was scrapped.
Flynn returned and now with three members of the strike team available, Edos made the decision to head into the more difficult dungeon taking him along.
Erin was mage who specialized in light magic, he was also a budding herbalist which was not to be confused with a pure apothecary. He was more into gardening and selling the products to apothecaries or using it in his own cooking. Because of this he was looking for to finding different herbs and plants in the dungeons.
Edos met him by the gate, and gave him a once over.
"You seem to have everything, are you nervous?" the General asked him in a kind tone.
Erin shook his head, "Not at all, I know I am in good hands."
"That's good then. I haven't been as diligent as usual with getting to know the new recruits, so I am going to take this time to close that gap," Edos told him.
Erin suddenly did feel a bit nervous to hear that. Edos to him was a might exsistence. It was a bit weird to see such a powerful being up close as oppose to far away and it was even more daunting for him to suggest that they get to know each other.
"You looked frightened now. I apologize."
"You're just larger than life," Erin hastened to explain, "So I am shocked at the idea of being 'close' to you."
"I am your ocmmanding officer and there is that between us. But that also mean I am responsible for you safety and your mental well being."
Samantha and Flynn trotted up together then and heard the last bit of Edos' mini-speech.
"Are you scaring the newbies again?" Samantha asked him with a soft laugh.
Edos rolled his eyes but didn't bother to defend himself.
The two of them looked cute together and Erin was reminded that the two shared parents, which in this world of foals who pop out of nowhere, was quite a feat.
"Flynn is happy to meet you Erin! Flynn heard you did really well in the classes."
That was the case. Erin despite being a mage had still mastered all of the more physically demanding courses.
"Yes, he really applied himself," Samantha was quick to agree, "I know he'll do well."
All of the praise was making Erin heated slightly so he was glad when Edos called them to attention and they started off for the dungeons.
Samantha and Edos had a hound and wolf respectively, while Flynn was taking along a very cute slime he called Nild. He mentioned that it had followed him out of the dungeon so he adopted it.
At the moment Flynn was carrying it with him, in a pot attached to his leather pack and kit. It was the cutest thing Erin had even seen in his life in his opinion.
After around fifteen minutes they reached the entrance to the dungeon that was to the north of the camp, in the side of a small hill. It had a clear sign which warned that it was a very dangerous level and not to be tried by a new dungeoneer. It even gave direction to the nearest entrance to the Overgrown Caverns.
"Let's head in, be alert, if you see anything out of the ordinary, approach with caution, we'll discuss any major decisions before acting unless life or hoof is in danger. Is that understood?"
"Yes General!" the three coursers responded.
Once they were inside of the dungeon, Erin noticed that it was cooler and a bit damp. The vegetation in this area was a bit sparce, it looked much as if someone's house had collapsed and they were now walking through the sunken halls.
As they continued one, there was a sudden soft trickling of water, which revealed itself to be underhoof.
"Let's go investigate," Edos said, "Running water in a place like this is definitely not a natural phenomenon."
They followed the water through the winding passage to the source.
It was a large sarcophagus in huge circular room. It was uncovered and the water was seeping out of it.
"Flynn doesn't like this, we should leave," Flynn stated.
"I agree with him, this dungeon is new one which has cycled here. We don't really know the origin of this place. I remembered when we came down there was another passage we could have taken. I think we should go back and take that one instead."
"I'll have a look inside," Edos decided, "But I am also of a mind to leave."
Edos stepped forward and it seemed to Erin that his steps were echoing. When Edos looked inside he saw that the water was stagnant and congealing with scabbed top. It didn't have much of a smell which was curious. The entire thing was quite concerning.
"You should listen to the pretty lady courser and leave," a quiet, stern voice said. The voice was revealed to belong to an mostly-white courser with a cream mane. It was wearning a dark half robe over its shoulders.
They were all shocked and Edos quickly retreated and drew his weapon at the same time.
"You are no match for me, leave, before I show you what is in the tomb," the courser continued.
As they watched a thin bone arm raised up from the liquid. The arm was holding a scimitar.
Edos decided that he had seen more than enough and he gave the command to retreat.
