[DD2] Introducing the Copernicus; the heirloom (pt. 3)

Two eyes made a sound while blinking, without saying a word.

Loud laughter bounced off the walls of the small cavern, and a crushed stone fell with a rustle. Finally, a creature hidden in the heirloom whose body was made from precious black stone yawned and started turning inside its shelter. Dea cheered up even more, he liked their presence. The lock opened, and two red slits appeared from the inside of the shadow of the medallion. They curiously looked at the picture that unfolded in front of them. Small pieces of burnt stone here and there, a small lizard-like beast between two squinted courses. Slight smell of burnt hair. Comically large shadows on the walls, the small dragon looked almost offended. It was hard to say if it was a baby or if it was in its complete form.

— Believe me, I have not a single coin after my soul, if you beg from me, you are the most miserable dragon ever, because there isn’t a coin near.

— Wait, you said you have a hoard, will you sh…? — Courser's head turned back in interest, but the creature already left, nowhere to be seen. Only burnt splashes beneath his hooves Remained a reminder of the recent battle.

Introducing the Copernicus.

 — Tell a story, pal— A pair of different eyes meets yours— It's been a long time; how have you been? — Markas was just waiting for a spare minute to catch up with a friend in their filled with an events journey.

— you know, here and there. A little older and a lot poorer than the last time we saw each other—Dea’s nostrils tremble in a quiet, regretful chuckle—I spent almost all my savings to retrieve this heirloom—massive neck bends and head nods towards the rather plain metallic chain and hanging over it heirloom. There, inside a locket, between scratched and no longer shining metal, curled up a small being. The creature resembled a piece of coal and seemed to be asleep most of the road, lulled by the measured heartbeat of a huge courser. After a long, sweet stretch, two burning red slits of its eyes gazed upon Markas.

— That’s my companion, Copernicus.

The jury isn't out on whether dragons truly lurk the dungeons.

Some veteran adventurers claim to have seen them with their own eyes. Surely they wouldn't be this close to the surface? The shadow you see on the wall begs to differ. You brace yourself to battle the beast - but the creature that accosts you is much smaller. A pesky wyrm coughs its tiny flame at you, mugging you for gold to add to its hoard.
