The Golden Drake Chronicles 0006
After about twelve hours, the party of three entered the Moor.
Cerridwen was leading and talking happily. She was especially happy to be spending time with Shaden and by extension Jessica.
"This is my lady's fist time in the moor yes?" Cerridwen asked.
"It is, and just call me Jessica when we are adventuring together like this," Jessica instructed.
"Ah, sure! It's a weird place but then all part of the dungeon are when you think about it."
Jessica's wisp was hanging close to her. It had been less than a day and it seemed they had already started to form a very solid bond.
Cerridwen stopped and lifted her wet hoof so Jessica and Shaden could look.
"See this red color? it's from some sort of algae in the water. Or at least that is what we tell newbies. I don't think we really know exactly why it is like this but that reason is much better than people fainting away thinking it is blood you know?"
"It looks very much like blood," Jessica commented, "I would eb disinclined to believe the algae theory."
Shaden shook his head. He was very familiar with blood - it wasn't fresh blood but that didn't discount some sort of supernatural phenomenon. The energy of decay and death hung heavier in this place than in all of the dungeon before.
"Out goal is to find one the more sturdy old ruins and set up camp, then we can scout around and see what treasure and trouble we can sniff out," Cerriwen told him, continuing to lead them deeper into the moor.
"That sounds reasonable," Shaden said.
Jessica had no objections. This was her first adventure and so far she had been stunned by how different the landscape was between the three dungeons she had passed through on her way to this level.
She did not feel fear at the moment, only excitement. After all she had her very capable and powerful husband by her side and one of his eager and dedicated subordinates leading the way.
It is sort of like a vacation... she mused.
Normally she would be super busy trying to balance the books for the Golden Drake. It was a high volume business that brought in over one hundred thousand coins a night at minimum. It was often enough to make her brain hurt.
As creepy as this place was, with it's blood-water and heavy mist, at least her mind could relax.
She made up her mind then and there to come to the dungeons with Shaden more often.
