[DD1] Ravin Gets his Man PT 1
The last person Ravin expected to be waiting for him when they finally reached the militia camp was the royal messenger again.
"Ravin Thornborn, Sir. This letter is marked urgent and requires a verbal agreement," the royal messenegr told him as soon as the Samantha and Edos had departed after giving him a knowing look.
Ravin was bit flusterd by this change and he went into his house to read it.
Dearest Ravin,
It has been far too long since I have set eyes on you and I wish to remedy this immediately. I am inviting you along on an expedition to the dungeons. Just you and I, however my royal knight will accompany us and so I can assure your safety. If you are in agreement, please inform the messenger and he will give you the address where I am staying now.
Also if you agree, please prepare as you normally would for a trip to the Overgrown Caverns of at least a week.
Yours in anticipation,
Nathaniel.
Ravin was so stunned by what he read that he looked over it twice. Of course he would go, he didn't even need to think deeply to come up with that conclusion at all. Not to mention that it was only a trip to the Overgrown Caverns and he was a seasoned fighter.
He went back out and give his answer to the royal messenger without further waiting.
"Very good Sir," the messenger replied, "He is currently staying for BrookLane Manor in the north of the Luciana delta. This map will sow the way to get there, it is a trip of about an hour. If you want, I can wait until you have made youre preparations and then escort you."
Ravin preferred to be escorted and said this. The messenger nodded and indicated that he would wait.
After thinking about it, he first went to let Edos know what he was going to do.
"Ah, this is interesting. He finally makes a move," Edos noted.
Ravin blushed faintly and didn't meet Edos' gaze directly.
"No need to be shy. Be careful, and try to settle your feelings for him on this trip," Edos encouraged.
"I'll see how it goes," Ravin murmured though he did not out right agree. To his mind it was inconceivable but a royal would be interested seriously in a dungeon born foundling like himself.
His heart felt too fragile to handle the disappointment that would ensue.
Ravin returned to his hut and he started his preparations. Ruin was watching his ever move with excitement. The intelligent crow could tell he was going back into the dungeons and seemed happy about it even though they had barely just left.
He stored his stash of rations and water and then did some routine maintenance on his weapon. These were considered an essential part of his kit. In addition he had healing draughts, bandages, rope and other such utility tools all of which helped him to feel more prepared.
While the dungeons had continued to surprise him, he knew that having a proper kit had saved lives.
He was unsure what Nathaniel would have prepared so with that in mind, he doubled up on some basics. The royal knight should be bale to fend for himself he figured.
That done, Ravin bid goodbye to Edos and Samantha who were together sharing a meal at that time and then left quickly before either of the siblings could start teasing him.
