Prompt: A sentient pile of slime approaches you. It blinks its single eye up at you, unsettling but not immediately threatening. How do you respond?

Izem passed Merildis who let out a sigh of relief as she let the leaves swish back into place, once again hiding the strange chamber with its courser eating pedestal or treasure chest. Her best guess, it was one of those mimic creatures she had heard of. Not a friendly one.
“Well, we learned one good thing from this discovery at least!” Izem chimed.
“Oh?” Merildis asked.
“Yeah! We saw moonlight!”
“Oh! We are near the surface! There could be an exit around here.”
The two coursers began to search behind every bush and stalagmite, up on every ledge, around every corner. As Merildis pushed aside the fronds of yet another large plant she made eye contact with a small creature.
Bloop
It made a strange sound as it jiggled one last time before stopping to stare right back at the courser.
“What in the world are you?” she asked herself quietly.
Izem peaked over Merildis’ shoulder.
“Oh! A slime! Let’s catch it.”
Izem moved to approach the little creature.
Its eyes widened in fear and it turned around and began trying to slide and hop away as quickly as it could to avoid the cat-colored courser.
“Hey! It’s scared, let's leave it alone and keep searching,” Merildis called.
“It could be valuable…” Izem grumbled.
“Leave it be, please,” she begged.
“Fine…”
Merildis watched as the slime disappeared into the surrounding brush and the two coursers returned to searching for an exit, leaving the little slime in peace.
