[DD1] Warm Enough, Little One
Winnie was tired but she kept walking, hoping to find a spacious cavern to bed down in for the night. She'd had a rough day and although she's stubborn and will try to fight just about anything she got absolutely dragged today and had to retreat. She really wasn't in the mood for another fight. Winnie walked further, her legs growing tired until she reached a dead end. A boulder blocked her path and a desperate sigh escaped her, too overwhelmed to do much else. She took a few more steps towards the boulder hoping maybe, just maybe it was an illusion that would dispell if she got closer but it didn't. However, she did start to see the details of it, an intricate pattern in browns and golds with ridges where the giant swirls went round. It looked like a giant snail shell.
Winnie moved closer, tapping her hoof gently against the shell and asked "'Ello there, would you perhaps be able to scooch over a tiny bit, I need to keep going to find a cavern." The shell didn't move, but she heard a squelch from the creature inside moving slightly.
"What do you need a cavern for? Can you not turn around and find one in that direction?" A booming voice replied, echoing within its own shell to the point it sounded like the question came from everywhere and nowhere all at the same time.
Winnie sighed, collapsing to the floor in defeat, "I need a place to sleep and I've been travelling this way for a few hours without coming upon a safe or clean enough cavern to bed down in." After her adventure with the toad, she bought herself a cloak and she tried to pull it further over her shoulders, but it was relatively small, only covering one shoulder, her back and a little of her neck, since she didn't have enough coin for a larger or more insulated one. She shivered slightly, shuffling against the moist, cold, rock ground. The shell moved slightly until it creaked and started to turn almost all the way round with the top of it lifting up somewhat.
"Bed under my shell for the night, it should keep you warm enough, little one. Tomorrow you may journey on but beware not all are as kind as me," the snail replied gently, coaxing Winnie under the shell. She thanked the beast and leaned her body up against the inside of the shell to sleep, trying to avoid the goop of the snail slime but ultimately, it didn't matter. She was warm and safe and when tomorrow came, she would be rested.
