[DD2] Confidence gone too far...
Robin was ready to cross the chasm. “Alright, Kermit, Pheobe. Let’s go!” He said with a wide smile, not seeing a single issue with crossing a giant lava pit on such a worn bridge.
Kermit croaked, rolling his eyes. Kermit wasn’t enjoying the adventures with these other ‘guild horses’, but he shrugged them off. It started okay, sitting on Robin’s head, but that changed after he looked down, noticing the bubbling, smoking lava beneath.
Kermit’s eyes widened in horror at the pit of death beneath them, and with only a moment’s hesitation, he croaked in terror, leaping from Robin’s head and dashing for the other side. Pheobe stopped, raising an eyebrow.
Robin blinked, but chuckled as he trotted after his amphibian friend. “Kermit, there’s nothing to worry about. Horses use this bridge all the time.” Robin shook, making Kermit yelp as the bridge started thrashing. Robin, oblivious to Kermit’s fear, giggled to himself.
“Robin! What are you doing?!” Pheobe yelled.
“Don’t worry, it’ll hold! It always has!” Robin replied.
Kermit turned around, hopping back at the red-chested stallion and leaping to land on his snout. As soon as he did, and he had Robin’s attention, he let out a high-pitched squeal of froggy rage and fear. Robin froze, his ears turning backwards.
“…D-did I really scare you that bad? I’m sorry, little guy.” Kermit huffed with an expanding throat, and soon, they were on the other side. Kermit pouted on Robin’s head. “Sorry, Kermit. I won’t do that again, I promise.”
Kermit glanced down at him, but gave a small sound of acknowledgment and gently nuzzled him, deciding to just accept Robin’s apology and be done with it. Pheobe sighed as she stepped off the bridge behind them, shaking her head as she realized now who had contracted her into the dungeon.
“Next time, don’t tempt disaster, okay?” She asked the stallion, who smiled at her.
“Disaster? Nah, that bridge has stood for ages, hasn’t it?”
“Yes, but that doesn’t mean it won’t break, eventually!” Pheobe pointed out, her ears folding back as she spoke to him like a child who wandered into the street.
“Oh… I’m sorry.” Robin scratched his hoof at the cave floor embarrassedly as he realized Kermit was right to be scared. “I’m sorry, you two. I guess I’m just not thinking today.”
“Well, maybe we shouldn’t be dungeon diving today, then. We should go back.” Pheobe said.
Robin perked up and trotted in place. “Oh! Yes! I’ll buy you both drinks and dessert as an apology! Let’s go!” Before Pheobe could think about the logistics of buying a frog a drink, Robin was already galloping back across the bridge.
