[DD2] a quick calculation
Martzel kept up a brisk pace through the Earthen Furnace, on a solo mission Kendall had given him to find a particular ancient spear. The spear was forged of mithril and was said to have once belonged to a great hero by the name of Jirandir. Whether Jirandir was a Courser or some other kind of creature was unknown - all the records of his existence were written, and the descriptions were vague. It was of no concern to Martzel - he would find the spear all the same.
He paused as he saw something unusual on the path up ahead. After a moment, he trotted carefully up to it.
It was a salamander. One that had wandered a little too far from its home in the magma. It seemed lethargic, and its body was stiffening as it cooled. Martzel tilted his head to one side, considering his options. Capturing it and bringing it back to the surface could get him a tidy profit, but this was not the task he’d been sent down here to complete, and carrying the thing around for the rest of his mission would be a hassle.
He decided to return the creature to the magma. He did so quickly, not wanting to waste too much time. Then he continued onwards.
prompt: Salamanders are valuable to sell as alchemical components, but they are also overhunted and becoming scarce. You find one that has strayed too far from the magma, its skin beginning to cool and harden. It would be easy to capture it like this. What do you do?
