<dd1 - wolfrem>

Wolfrem had known nothing than always working alone. From the moment he was born, his parents were so absent that he could hardly even remember what they looked like,
overwhelmingly consumed by their desire to go deeper and deeper into the dungeons. For that he was still a little grateful, as he'd definitely inherited their intrinsic
attraction to the depths and what they hold. While he couldn't quite imagine essentially abandoning those he loved simply to try to get ahead, he also couldn't really
see himself being that close with any other coursers to begin with.

A squelch of soggy moss underfoot brings his mind back to the present, and his eyes regain focus on the path ahead of him. While teeming with life - some created from ways
he may never understand - this level always seemed to strike his nerves. It felt too alive in and of itself for something long abandoned. Still, plenty of coursers could
be found exploring here, though luck usually played in his favor of keeping him from any awkward encounters. His lack of socialization as a foal had greatly inhibited his
ability to understand much about being friendly to others, and he didn't want anyone to get the wrong idea and think they may have access to any of his spoils.

With a fork approaching, a gruff catches his attention. He doesn't recognize it as a sound from any of the odd creatures he's stumbled upon in here, and his ears perk up
at the strange sound. His pace slows and he takes extra caution to step as lightly as possible, peering around the dungeon wall to peek down the left side - only to spot
another courser. Oddly enough, this one was staring straight at the wall.

Idiot.

Most of the horses he'd had the displeasure of coming across had egos too big to carry, and he was never very fond of having to make conversation when he was this close.
Something seemed off here, though. Every slight turn the horse took, it still faced the wall, never seeming to know which way it was facing or which way to go.

"Are you alright..?" he questioned, his voice low and gruff. The light horse tensed, turning quickly to the sound of his voice with eyes wide. Blind eyes.
As quickly as they were facing eachother, his eyes mirrored hers, widening in surprise.

"Who's there?" Her voice trembled ever so slightly, like she was trying to feign confidence. Wolfrem took a gentle step forward, a strange feeling swelling. No wonder she
was staring at the wall,
he thought. She can't fucking see.

When she stayed still, not shying away from his slight approach, he gave her his name, and him hers. Esper. He almost pitied her, wondering how she could've survived this
long in the dungeon unable to see. Then, the reminder of the facade of confidence returned to his brain. She wants to be here, scouring like everyone else. He had to admit
he was impressed be her resilience - even the first level here had plenty of things to avoid. And then, she spoke again.

"Can I walk with you?" she began. "O-only for a bit. I just seem to have gotten turned around.." her voice trailed off, and a puzzled look crossed his face. Walk with him?
He was used to the occasional courser making a humble brag as he passed, or maybe a simple greeting, but never anything more than that. But she's literally blind. You have
to help. He let out the most quiet sigh he could muster, going back and forth. He'd always worked alone - that was his whole shtick - but if anyone actually needed help,
it'd be the mare that can't even see where she's stepping.

"Fine, yeah." His reply was curt, and he almost felt guilty upon seeing the relief seem to wash over her. Before he could even continue, she was walking up beside him as
he turned to guide her out, and rambling off about friends she has waiting for her that would be so happy to meet him, and oh they'll be so grateful he helped, and oh
what was your name again? His eyes narrowed in annoyed acceptance as he glanced back at her and he noticed her ears - she was listening to his steps to tell where he was.
And yet suddenly, after what felt like forever walking in one direction, her ears perked forward.

"They're just ahead!" she announced, a slight grin forming as she quickened her pace. And so, he followed.
