[DD1] sweetwater
Runyalos is, once again, back in the dungeon.
Today, however, he is actually following his map, instead of simply guessing and ending up in some unknown and out-of-the way tunnel to nowhere; and things have been, thus far, not nearly as perilous as his attempt from the day before. Olórin is perched on his pack keeping watch behind him, as usual, and he has already picked up a few bits and bobs he'd found in a side room along the day's journey. So far - not a terrible delve. But he can't help but be suspicious, especially considering his luck lately.
The map shows a wide brook coming up (with a strange symbol marked over it - he probably should have asked the merchant who sold him the map what that meant; alas), and he's extremely pleased when he rounds a turn to find a wide cavern with the said water running right through the middle of it. A strange, sweet scent fills the cavern, which seems to be emanating from the water itself; Olórin takes off as he nears the water, gliding away into the gloom to scout the rest of the cavern. The owl will return should he spot anything or encounter any danger, so Runyalos sets to examining the water to see if he might be able to fill his canteen.
Upon closer inspection, the water is strangely... alluring. It glimmers and glistens with a faint rainbow sheen, and as he approaches, the sweet scent grows stronger and stronger. He examines the water with a suspicious eye, approaching it gingerly so as not to slip on the stone and fall in. It... seems safe enough, for all it is extraordinarily strange. The dungeons apparently do not lack for water (or so he's been told by more experienced guildmembers), but something about this is just... wrong. And he shouldn't really need more water, since he's not planning to spend all that much more time below. He's loathe to risk poisoning, especially since the mysterious symbol on the map is oddly menacing to him - some sort of hollow tube extended over a strangely-shaped paw.
That decided, he backs away from the water just in time for Olórin to return; the owl soars noiselessly over the brook and drops a small stone from its talons into the water. The moment the rock hits the surface, the cavern explodes with hissing and sputtering as it dissolves in the water and vanishes.
Well then.
