Walk it Off
Kharis sniffed at the water suspiciously, eyeing the glowing motes that floated in the lagoon. She was no stranger to strange happenings in the Dungeon, andd this wouldn't be the first time a glowing thing turned out to be dangerous.
But she was thirsty, and she couldn't sense anything lurking nearby, so she drank her fill while Hhiros tended to Atella's wounds. This had not been her plan, when they had entered the Dungeon this time. They had been after the latest bounty Meryl had put up, an ether roan with a debt to pay. Babysitting a pair of youngsters, one of them skittish and so traumatized she couldn't even speak, did not align with that plan in the slightest. But she wasn't so hard-hearted as to leave them to their own devices, not when they were here by accident. If they had been headstrong and overconfident, perhaps she might have; sometimes the lessons the Dungeon taught were more impactful than the warnings of an elder. Atella, however, seemed to already know that, and Linette seemed sensitive to her friend's distress.
Kharis snorted, turning away from the lagoon. They'd get Atella patched up, maybe eat something, and continue on their way. She returned to Hhiros, rummaging in his packs for the energy balls he carried; it was easier to get to his than to crane her neck around to access her own, after all.
"Here," she said shortly, dropping a couple of them in front of Linette. They were dense things, made of oats, molasses, dried fruits, and seeds rolled into bite-sized ball. "Eat. You need to keep your strength up."
Linette nudged one towards Atella, who seemed to have relaxed a little, enough to lip at the food. Kharis kept an eye on the fillies as she scarfed down her own, gauging their strength. Given the deviation the Dungeon had already given them, she was doubtful that the journey back would be as simple as she had thought.
