[DD2] no pun intended
There's little respite from the heat, and Lucia can't help the exhaustion that sinks in as they move deeper into the dungeon. Day after day of this, it's becoming a slog. One she doesn't know how to put into words. Capo is good company, and it seems the heat doesn't get to him nearly as much. Lucky duck, he was. The little beetle rests upon her shoulder as they wind their way deeper into the Furnace, following the carefully kept map for as long as it will take them. The Company did well with those maps, and Lucia is grateful for that much. It's her job to help expand on them, in their travels.
Carefully weaving deeper, a strange draft draws her attention. It's hoof-level, but certainly cooler than anything she's felt within on this level of the dungeon so far. Lucia shares a glance with Capo, her eyebrows lifting for a moment. "Well, it's worth checking out." A little smile on her lips, a little pep back in her step as she makes her way to the source of the cool air. Any reprieve from the heat would be welcome, at this point. It feels like she's sweat so much that she'll never be dry again.
A brazier comes into focus as they grow near, and Lucia stops for a moment. Brow crinkling, observing at a distance. "That's... fire but opposite?" Capo clicked his mandible, his curiosity helping egg Lucia on. The two make their way closer, feeling the air around them grow cooler. Inspecting it carefully, it seemed as if the coal never ran down, though it was certainly lit. "How cool is that?" No pun intended.
Gaze flickering to Capo on her shoulder, Lucia's voice is breathless. There's a bit of wonder hanging in her tone as she inspects the brazier, tail flickering eagerly at her haunches. "We can rest here for a while." They'd be sure to leave the space in better condition than they arrived, undisturbed for the next weary traveler who needed to experience a little dungeon magic for themselves. Things like the brazier were strange, but they were for all travelers to explore and enjoy. Respect the dungeon and it will respect them back. Everyone who braved the depths should be able to experience what the dungeon had to offer-- especially when the things offered were for the better. Lucia rests heavily beside the lit brazier, a comfortable temperature for the first time today.
