[EASY] The Adventure Begins

Onyxia pawed at another loose brick as Aurosa watched on from where she laid, the palomino having long since given up the attempt on getting into the room that had a large, heavy wooden door blocking their access. It was clear someone had tried to lockpick it, either ages ago or recently, with the scratches and dents to the handle and key lock. Despite it clearly rattling in its frame when disturbed, it had obviously been unlocked at some point, but there was some type of barricade blocking it from moving on the otherside. Whatever it was, it was heavier than the two or them, or stronger, as pushing into the door and kicking it had gotten the two of them nowhere thus far.

Onyxia was determined to get the two of them inside the room, despite the hours that had been wasted, trying to chip at the old but hardy wood of the door, and then exploring the decrepit walls that were clearly crafted and not natural to the dungeon's cavernous walls. It wasn't the first, and likely wasn't the last, door that they had had to find a way to break through or otherwise get open with that they had available to use, be it tools or sheer strength to break it from its frame to continue onward. But Aurosa had long since grown tired of helping find a way through this door, wanting to backtrack instead, and abandon the location for another time when they could return better prepared.

"Nyx, we really should just leave," Aurosa sighed, rolling her eyes when her partner snorted in annoyance and lightly kicked at the loose brick she had been fiddling with.

"I'm going to find the way in," she replied resolutely.

Aurosa couldn't help but groan softly and lie down onto her side properly, idly continuing to watch as Onyxia prodded and kicked at different bricks that seemed ready to give out, but none of them had quite yet given into her demands of them to give way completely.

Onyxia could heard on the other side of the wall the little crumbles of the stone cracking and falling as she continued working at the stone bricks. The wall she was working at seemed the weakest, and so far it had proven to be true, with how close she felt to getting something to give way and hopefully topple the wall at least partially, enough for them to get in safely. Was the method itself safe? Not really, and Onyxia knew that well, that the collapse of the wall could quickly turn into a dangerous situation if it managed to hit her, but she was confident enough it would collapse into the room and not towards her to keep at it.

A final kick to a more centered brick had it suddenly vanish into the dark room, the harsh crack of it hitting the ground on the other side making Aurosa jump into sitting up, staring at the hole Onyxia had managed to poke in the wall. Finally she'd gotten somewhere, and another kick of a stone next to the missing one had the hole growing bigger, and left Aurosa scrambling into standing up as she watched more seriously now. Another kick, and several bricks moved, and the faintest groan of the stone bricks losing their support before they began collapsing on its own, and Onyxia hurried to get away from the dropping bricks as the entire thing toppled. Bricks clattered towards her and Aurosa as they minded their space, dust kicking up into the air as the sounds of rocks hitting the stone ground came to a stop.

"I told you I'd find a way in," Onyxia remarked cheekily, Aurosa huffing at her and trotting forward to check out the room as the dust began to settle.

Inside was sadly unremarkable, the lack of any notable treasures or chests that might hold treasure disappointing, and it even seemed to be a dead end. Truly, it had not been worth the hours of trying to find a way in. Aurosa bit her tongue to not tell Onyxia she told her so, that it wouldn't be worth their time, and they should've left it when it was clear it was more work than it was worth to get inside the room. All the same they took their time looking around, looking for any little bit of treasure that might make the effort worth it, but the only item in the room appeared to be some sort of piece of furniture, tucked into a corner.

Aurosa took the moment to carefully nudge it away from the wall so she could examine it, head tilting slightly seeing her reflection, fuzzy as the mirror's surface seemed to shift and fog faintly before growing clear and...what looked back at her was herself, but it also...wasn't. It was discomforting, to look at what was obviously her own face, but things were off, different, the hair length and style wrong, with jewelry that most definitely was not adorning her body. Objectively speaking, it was...prettier than she was in that moment, but something about it felt wrong. When Onyxia approached from behind, she expected to see her partner appear in the reflection as well, but she never appeared. All the same Onyxia seemed to be just as baffled by whatever she was seeing in the mirror, expression growing displeased almost with what was appearing to her in the reflection.

Aurosa was about to prompt her about it, but Onyxia force the mirror to turn back to the wall with a hoof before she could, the larger mare turning back towards the broken wall they had come in through.

"We should go."

Aurosa was confused, glancing at the mirror, before turning and following after her partner, "Is something wrong?"

"There's a magic in the mirror, and you never know when that magic is going to backfire," Onyxia replied as she stepped over the broken bricks of the stone wall. "Especially given how old it is. Whoever made it face the wall knew something was wrong, and I don't like the idea of finding out what made them do that."

Aurosa nodded, more to herself since Onyxia wasn't looking at her, and letting the subject lie back where they had discovered the mirror. Even as curious as the object had been, and she wanted to know what the reflection had shown to Onyxia, she decided it wasn't worth the strife or stress it might cause her already tense partner to press the subject further. They'd surely find other, better rooms with actual treasure that doesn't make Onyxia flee.
